Description
The Systems Engineering Technician supports the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of data systems used across the organization. This role is accountable for completing technical system tasks accurately, troubleshooting user and data issues, maintaining system information, and supporting reliable day-to-day system operations in a regulated manufacturing environment for the medical industry.
Key outcomes expected from this position include timely resolution of system requests and tickets, accurate creation and maintenance of system records, reliable backups and data recovery.
This role works cross-functionally with Quality, Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and other departments to gather information, route approvals, resolve issues, and support system-related needs while following applicable documentation, change control, traceability, and Quality Management System requirements.
- Provide day-to-day technical and operational support for TestSuite, Epicor, QC-CALC, and other systems used by the organization.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and related documentation to extract information needed for system configuration, forms, records, and ERP data.
- Compile technical and operational information into controlled forms and route documentation through the appropriate review and approval processes.
- Create, modify, and test configuration files for compatibility with TestSuite and related applications in .xml, .csv, .json or other data formats.
- Troubleshoot and resolve TestSuite tickets and user requests, including transferring test runs between files, correcting entry values, creating and maintaining backups, restoring data from backups, and perform tests.
- Assist users with Epicor requests, system data maintenance, and related ERP support activities.
- Design and create reports and export data from QC-CALC to support Quality and Manufacturing needs.
- Investigate and correct inaccurate or incomplete QC-CALC data entries in accordance with approved procedures.
- Maintain clear documentation of system changes, troubleshooting activities, backups, and completed requests.
- Follow established procedures, Good Documentation Practices, data integrity requirements, EHS requirements, and 5S standards.
- Collaborate with other Engineering groups, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, and other departments to resolve system and data-related issues.
- Support data integrity, traceability, and consistency across manufacturing and quality systems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong technical aptitude and demonstrated ability to learn new software, systems, and technical processes.
- Comfortable working with multiple software applications, structured data, system configurations, and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including organizing, reviewing, and analyzing data.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures while also investigating and resolving unfamiliar technical issues.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple requests and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with users from different departments and levels of technical experience.
- Familiarity with ERP, manufacturing, quality, or test systems is preferred.
- Experience with Epicor, TestSuite, QC-CALC, Minitab, or similar systems is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of SQL, databases, scripting, or programming is a plus.
- Familiarity with regulated manufacturing, Quality Management Systems, change control, validation, traceability, or Good Documentation Practices is a plus.
Education & Experience
- Associate degree, technical certificate, coursework, or equivalent practical experience in Engineering Technology, Information Systems, Manufacturing, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred but not required.
- Entry-level candidates with strong technical aptitude, relevant academic or hands-on experience, and demonstrated willingness to learn will be considered.
- Previous experience supporting software systems, manufacturing operations, quality systems, ERP platforms, technical data, or similar environments is preferred.
- Experience in a medical device, regulated manufacturing, or other highly controlled environment is a plus.
Working conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, ambient air, fumes, or airborne particles.
- The job requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, as well as walking, speaking, listening, using hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and other office equipment, and reaching with hands and arms.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally high requiring safety equipment to be utilized.
Physical requirements
- Candidate must be able to perform the physical responsibilities of the job utilizing arms, hands, and fingers to perform complex functions of manufacturing parts and performing other duties of the job, e.g., standing, sitting, walking throughout the facility and stairs, bending, squatting, and kneeling, etc.
- Frequently move and maneuver on ladder of varying sizes.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 lbs.
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00/hour
