Description
We are seeking a skilled ServiceNow Developer to join our Enterprise ServiceNow Platform team. This role is responsible for developing, configuring, and supporting ServiceNow solutions across multiple business functions, including IT Service Management (ITSM), Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD), Customer Service Management (CSM), IT Operations Management, Business Continuity Management (BCM), and Supplier Lifecycle Operations (SLO) as well as multiple scoped applications within the instance.
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled ServiceNow Developer to join our established ServiceNow development team. This role is ideal for an early-career to mid-level developer who is looking to expand their expertise within a mature enterprise ServiceNow environment. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, configuration, enhancement, and support of ServiceNow applications and integrations while working alongside senior developers, architects, platform administrators, and product owners.
The developer will participate in the delivery and continuous improvement of solutions across multiple ServiceNow products, including IT Service Management (ITSM), Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD), Customer Service Management (CSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), Discovery, Business Continuity Management (BCM), Supplier Lifecycle Operations (SLO), and other platform capabilities as required.
Key Responsibilities include:
Platform Development
- Develop, configure, and maintain ServiceNow applications and platform capabilities using industry best practices.
- Build and support workflows, Flow Designer solutions, business rules, client scripts, UI policies, script includes, and catalog items.
- Develop custom applications and modules using the ServiceNow App Engine.
- Participate in the implementation of new platform features and capabilities.
Solution Delivery
- Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to understand business requirements.
- Translate functional requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in sprint planning, design discussions, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews.
- Assist in identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement.
Integrations & Automation
- Assist with data imports, transformation maps, APIs, and automated workflows.
- Troubleshoot integration-related issues and support ongoing platform operations.
Platform Support & Maintenance
- Investigate and resolve defects, incidents, and platform issues.
- Support platform upgrades, patching activities, and release deployments.
- Assist with code reviews, testing activities, and deployment validation.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for developed solutions.
Continuous Improvement
- Follow established development standards, governance practices, and security requirements.
- Participate in peer reviews and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Contribute to platform optimization and technical debt reduction efforts.
- Stay current with emerging ServiceNow capabilities and best practices.
Technical Skills
- Experience configuring and developing within the ServiceNow platform.
- Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and web application concepts.
- Understanding of ServiceNow development components, including:
- Business Rules
- Client Scripts
- UI Policies
- Script Includes
- Flow Designer
- Service Catalog
- Record Producers
- ACLs and security controls
- Understanding of source control and deployment practices.
Experience or exposure to one or more of the following ServiceNow products:
- IT Service Management (ITSM)
- Customer Service Management (CSM)
- Business Continuity Management (BCM)
- Supplier Lifecycle Operations (SLO)

The preferred working arrangement for the role is a hybrid model, with a few days per week in the Columbus, OH office. However, remote work arrangements will be considered for candidates located outside the Columbus area.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high-quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document, and maintain applications.

Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degrees are preferred. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
Experience: Two or more years of software engineering, analysis, or related technology experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or JavaScript. Knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle moderately complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
