Description

Who We Are

We are Tennis! The USTA (United States Tennis Association) is the national governing body for the sport of tennis and the leader in promoting and developing the sport’s growth on every level in the United States, from local communities to the crown jewel of the professional game, the US Open.

Why Work for the USTA?

We are a passionate team of staff and volunteers focused on growing the sport of tennis and making it accessible to all. We are committed to removing barriers and creating opportunities for ALL to participate.

The Role

The USTA’s Tennis Venue Services (TVS) team supports tennis facilities nationwide with grant funding and consultative services aimed at making tennis facilities a best-in-class destination.

In this role, you will:

  • Join the TVS team in driving the strategy, knowledge, and innovation surrounding the development and improvement of tennis court infrastructure.
  • Facilitate the peer review of construction documents for tennis court infrastructure projects, regularly report on key process milestones, and identify opportunities for workflow improvement.
  • Coordinate the delivery of Park Agency Tennis Assessments for park and recreation agencies nationwide.

Responsibilities:

The new manager will be responsible for the following programs and priorities.

Tennis Venue Services Technical Projects

  • Oversee the pipeline for the technical review of projects in the USTA’s TVS grant program.
  • Manage the distribution of technical tasks, ensuring tasks are distributed efficiently and that each task includes the proper documentation for review.
  • Establish and accurately report on key TVS technical pipeline metrics.
  • Monitor projects for compliance with TVS grant criteria and track frequently occurring issues.
  • Develop a national repository of technical standards and resources regarding the construction and maintenance of tennis facilities.

Park Agency Tennis Assessment Portfolio

  • Manage the USTA Park Agency Tennis Assessment (PATA) program, a consultative service designed to help park agencies improve the delivery of tennis in their community.
  • Collaborate with key partners to lead the administration of PATA within key park agencies.
  • Establish and accurately report on key PATA metrics.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support research and development initiatives that invite innovation within tennis infrastructure.
  • Stay abreast of standards, industry recommendations, and specifications for tennis court infrastructure.
  • Work directly with relevant parties on any initiatives as assigned (i.e., engineers, designers, court contractors, vendors/manufacturers, facility owners/operators, parks professionals).

Note: This is a facilities and infrastructure role focused on the built environment (construction, materials, and technical design), not an Information Technology or Software Engineering position.

Who You Are

The new manager should be highly analytical, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and data-driven. They should have a strong technical foundation and a general understanding of the physical requirements of building tennis courts. Familiarity with public parks or municipalities is a plus, as is a working knowledge of tennis and organizations within the tennis ecosystem. More than anything, the person should be team-oriented and work well in a collaborative setting.

  • 2–4 years of professional experience in technical project management, with demonstrated success organizing complex workflows, tracking multi-step deliverables, and creating detailed project documentation.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, including Docs, Sheets, Forms & Slides
  • Proficient in project management software and other data analytics programs as needed
  • Highly team-oriented, personable, responsive, independent, organized, and a proactive problem-solver
  • This position is designated as "hybrid/flex" in Orlando and may allow for both remote and on-site work. Any such position must meet the current USTA hybrid/flex requirements as updated from time to time. Please consult HR for the most current policy.
