Overview
The IT Architect 4, Health Infrastructure will serve as the senior technical architect for Health Sciences IT, providing technical leadership and architectural direction across cloud, compute, servers, storage, networking, virtualization, data center/colocation, and related infrastructure supporting research, academic, and administrative environments. They will develop infrastructure architecture and technical roadmaps that improve scalability, resiliency, interoperability, lifecycle management, and operational efficiency while aligning with Yale enterprise technology standards and services. Additionally, they will identify and lead opportunities to optimize infrastructure costs and operations by reducing technical debt and duplication, consolidating platforms, improving utilization, retiring legacy technologies, and leveraging enterprise or shared services where appropriate. The IT Architect 4, Health Infrastructure will provide deep technical advisory and solution architecture expertise to HSIT leadership and technology teams, translating complex business and scientific requirements into sustainable solutions and evaluating technology investments based on technical value, cost, risk, and long-term supportability. They will lead technical architecture and coordination for complex cross-institutional initiatives involving multiple teams, vendors, and other partners, identifying opportunities to simplify integrations, eliminate redundant capabilities, and maximize existing institutional technology investments. Provide technical leadership for secure and regulated infrastructure, partnering with Information Security and Compliance to incorporate institutional security standards, risk remediation, data protection and applicable regulatory requirements.
Required Skills and Abilities
1. Well-developed consulting skills and adept at working across multiple departments to break down barriers to collaboration and partnership.
2. Demonstrated experience in organizing and articulating relationships between multiple complex IT systems.
3. Proven experience participating in the design of enterprise architectures or leading large-scale systems integrations.
4. Demonstrated team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Examine and validate broader subsystems standards and assure that inter-system architectures are both efficient and consistent with existing institutional standards and practices. Identify Technical Gaps / and Technical Debt within your area of formal expertise. 2. Establishes new paradigms for their area expertise. 3. Develops, documents, and disseminates standard assemblies of technologies to flexibly and efficiently solve University needs. 4. Responsible for establishing design decisions and assuring that the implementations are socialized and understood by the effected parties.
