Description
The Cryogenic Semi-Trailer Mechanic performs basic maintenance, repairs, and inspections on cryogenic transport trailers and associated equipment under close supervision. This role is designed for individuals with foundational mechanical knowledge who are developing familiarity with DOT-regulated systems and cryogenic components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform basic mechanical tasks such as tire changes, light electrical work, lubrication, and cleaning.
- Assist senior mechanics in inspecting and repairing brakes, suspension, and running gear.
- Support disassembly, reassembly, and preparation of cryogenic cargo tanks, valves, and piping.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following OSHA and shop safety procedures.
- Accurately record work performed and report parts or tools needed.
- Participate in on-the-job training to gain familiarity with DOT, FMCSA, and CGA 341 requirements.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and use of hand/power tools.
- Willingness to learn cryogenic equipment systems.
- Previous automotive, diesel, or trailer shop exposure preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, climb on and under trailers, and work in various temperatures and confined spaces.
