Job Description:
I. Position Summary:
Specialized research professional working with and under the direction of the Project Director. Facilitates and coordinates daily study activities and plays a critical role in the conduct of the study. Works with the Project Director, department, sponsor, and institution to support and provide guidance on the administration of the compliance, personnel and other related aspects of the study. Requires meticulous organization and attention to detail. Must have the ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize tasks, develop work flow, and meet study deadlines. Must be able to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivated, able to work independently and as a part of a team. Must have good problem-solving skills and be highly communicative. Must be comfortable administering study visits both on-site at Hebrew SeniorLife sites and at participants’ homes. Must be comfortable collecting and handling biospecimens (e.g., blood processing). Phlebotomy experience is ideal.

III. Position Responsibilities:
Carries out research and development activities on a variety of projects both in collaboration with others and independently.
- Lead the acquisition of experimental data, including dietary assessments, mental well-being questionnaires, adverse events, other study specific questionnaires, and subsequent data entry.
- Lead the recruitment, scheduling, and retention of study participants. Conduct screening procedures over the phone as well as in person, and obtain informed consent from research participants.
- Maintains high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature.
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment on significant research project matters by evaluating and comparing possible courses of action and making a decision or recommendation after considering the various possibilities.
- Act as a liaison with the project investigators and project directors to ensure thorough, yet efficient communication that is related to the study research is maintained.
- Assist in the collection, processing, and/or transportation of biological specimen collection, including blood and stool.
- The above covers the most significant responsibilities of the position. It does not, however, exclude other duties, which would be in conformity with the level of the position.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
IV Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in a scientific discipline, 2 - 5 years of related experience or M.S. degree in a scientific discipline, 1 - 2 years of related experience.
- Competent computer literacy required; proficiency with Windows, Word, and Excel. Experience with REDCap or other electronic data capture system is helpful.
- Must exhibit respect for participant confidentiality, excellent communication skills, careful attention to details, good organizational skills and ability to follow directions. Must demonstrate flexibility in regards to project demands, i.e., Adapting to changes in schedules, coverage gaps, new technologies and unanticipated participant needs.
- Must be professional, proactive, collaborative, conscientious and results-oriented individual. Must have an optimistic and positive demeanor, excellent oral and written communication skills, good intuition and able to adapt to changing priorities and display good, sound judgment with a sense of humor.
- Superb organizational skills. Must have solid analytical skills. Must be creative and proactive yet disciplined, discriminating and able to streamline work volume in order to maintain bottom line efforts in midst of multi-tasking and daily re-prioritizing. Must have ability to innovate, think strategically and conceptually, manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle even difficult situations.
