Job Summary

Processes involuntary papers with the probate courts(s) and place all necessary paperwork in the patients' chart. Completes and retains paperwork required for the job. Assigns designated examiners and communicates necessary deadlines. Coordinates and organizes court hearings with all involved parties. Communicates court hearing outcomes to hospital staff, probate court and local mental health centers.

Essential Functions

• Assigns designated examiners and completes notifications, paperwork, and places necessary documentation in patients' chart

• Reviews involuntary papers for completeness on all new admissions

• Notifies and completes all necessary paperwork for probate court

• Processes and obtains releases for patients who are released

• Educates patients/significant others what to expect at the hearings

• Updates and informs physicians and designated examiners of involuntary status of their patients

• Organizes court hearings, security, and designated examiners for the hearings

• Organizes and coordinates attorney access to patients and clinically necessary information

• Assists in front lobby coverage

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job and will report to supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• Education - High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

• Experience - No experience required.
