About the opportunity

The University of Sydney is seeking an outstanding clinician-scientist and academic leader to take up the Parker-Hughes Chair of Diagnostic Radiology, an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of diagnostic radiology and medical imaging through world-leading research, clinical collaboration and innovation.

Established through the generous Parker-Hughes Bequest, the Chair provides a platform to establish an internationally recognized research program based within the University’s Camperdown precinct. You will also contribute to clinical radiology services, strengthening the integration of research, clinical practice and education.

You will attract competitive research funding, recruit and mentor outstanding researchers and higher degree by research candidates, and build a sustainable, high-performing research team. Through collaborative and collegial leadership, you will foster an inclusive, fair and supportive environment that values diverse expertise, encourages scientific excellence and integrity, and develops the next generation of research leaders.

This is an opportunity to build on the legacy of the Parker-Hughes Chair, unite clinical and research communities, and establish a leading program in diagnostic radiology with lasting national and international impact.

·       A strong track record of securing competitive research funding and leading major research programs, grants and strategic initiatives.

·       The ability to develop and deliver an ambitious research vision, establish multidisciplinary collaborations and build productive partnerships across academia, healthcare, industry, government and research organisations.

·       A commitment to translating research discoveries into clinical practice, new technologies, policy or healthcare innovation, with evidence of meaningful clinical or community impact.

·       A strong record of recruiting, mentoring and developing researchers, supervising higher degree by research candidates, and building high-performing, sustainable teams within an inclusive and supportive research environment.

·       Appropriate clinical qualifications, registration and credentials to undertake the clinical responsibilities associated with the position.

·       The ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders, build national and international research networks, and represent the University as a leader in imaging and radiology.
