About our Department:
The mission of Public Transportation is to provide safe, efficient, and customer friendly transit services to citizens and guests of the community. The City of Huntsville’s 19 Access vehicles are radio dispatched and ADA accessible. Access is a specialized, door-to-door, demand-response paratransit service.
Transit Center Platform Manager Position Overview:
This is supervisory, security and managerial work assisting fixed route drivers with customer service, and the safe loading, unloading, and securement of wheelchair bound passengers at the Transit Center. Work involves leading Bus Operator employees on various transit service-related functions; as well as responding to questions from customers. This position is responsible for de-escalating disputes, contacting HPD for security threats, responding to customer disturbances at the transit center, and also performs and serves as an additional Operations Supervisor.
Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:
High School diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the US Dept of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency . Specialized training (Certificate or Diploma) in managing front line employees in a service-related business or industry; or equivalent work experience (at least 5 years) as a Public Transit Supervisor or Public Transit Dispatcher. Public Transit Operations experience preferred. Minimum training in: Customer Service, Coaching Employees for Success, Defensive Driving Techniques, ADA Rules and Regulations, ETA Rules and Regulations for operating public transit.
Class B CDL License with a Passenger Endorsement.
