What you’ll be doing...

The Verizon Corporate Communications team is seeking a visionary Senior Manager of Responsible Business Communications to help craft and share our brand purpose story with the world. In this role, you will work directly with Verizon’s Corporate Affairs team to help shape the responsible business narrative that demonstrates our tangible impact on digital inclusion, environmental responsibility, and human prosperity. You will also partner directly with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure our responsible business initiatives are seamlessly woven into Verizon’s broader corporate identity. If you are a creative storyteller who understands the evolving CSR landscape and has the media savvy to amplify our impact, we want you on our team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Planning & Program Development: Leading the creation, development, and execution of comprehensive brand purpose communications programs across a variety of communications verticals, including shared, owned, earned, and paid media.
  • Executive Communications & Counsel: Serving as a trusted strategic communications partner to senior executives, providing elite counsel, briefing materials, and executive platform management.
  • Media Relations & Strategy: Leveraging a strategic mind for media relations and an existing network of top-tier, known contacts to secure high-value placements that elevate Verizon’s responsible business initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Narrative Integration: Connecting the dots at a higher, macro level, bridging the gap between various departments to build alignment and ensure a cohesive, enterprise-wide communications strategy.
  • Strategic Writing & Storytelling: Using your creative flair and exceptional writing skills to translate complex information into deeply engaging, human-centric stories that resonate with employees, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Measurement & Optimization: Measuring the success of communications and making data-driven suggestions to optimize future communications plans.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
  • Exceptional writing skills and an innate ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
  • A solid understanding of the existing brand purpose and policy landscape, including emerging trends and cultural shifts.
  • Demonstrated success supporting, prepping, and advising senior-level executives.
  • A proven success record of creating and executing successful brand purpose programs across a variety of communications verticals.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience planning large scale events that target a policymaker and policy influencer audience
  • A robust rolodex of known, valuable contacts in the lifestyle, business, and tech media spaces.
  • Understanding how a single initiative impacts the broader corporate strategy and global reputation.
  • Extreme attention to detail; holds internal and external partners to the same high standards.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Superb critical thinking skills and the ability to take a concept from ideation and strategy to execution autonomously.
  • The creativity required to cut through corporate noise and help bring stories to life in innovative, audience-centric ways.
  • Exceptional communication, thought leadership, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter across a matrixed organization.
  • Extensive experience working effectively with cross-functional teams

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
