Overview

Gallagher Re is seeking a Sanctions Analyst to join our growing compliance function, supporting the business in managing complex international trade sanctions and regulatory requirements across our global reinsurance operations.

This role will play a critical part in providing sanctions guidance, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to applicable sanctions regimes while enabling the business to operate effectively and compliantly.

We are looking for previous Insurance Trade Sanctions experience, ideally gained within the Marine and Aviation areas, although broader insurance sanctions expertise will also be considered. The successful candidate will need to have a proven understanding of sanctions regulations, screening processes, and the practical application of sanctions controls within an insurance or reinsurance environment.  Unfortunately at this time, experience gained solely within banking or financial services will not be suitable, as this position requires an understanding of insurance products, placements, clients, and associated sanctions risks.

We offer hybrid working and the expectation is to be in our London office 2 - 3 days a week and the role will work closely with the Sanctions Manager and the Financial Crime Team to provide expert advice and support on sanctions compliance. You’ll help the business identify, assess, and manage risks while ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.

How you'll make an impact

  • Supporting the development and maintenance of a sanctions compliance framework.
  • Researching and advising on sanctions-related issues, including legal and regulatory updates.
  • Responding to complex queries and providing clear, practical guidance to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Assisting with financial crime projects and contributing to business-led initiatives.
  • Acting as a point of escalation for sanctions screening alerts.

About you

  • A degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven understanding of UK, EU, and US sanctions regulations and a background in the (re)insurance sector.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a focus on client service.
  • Experience in trade sanctions is a necessity and if this has been gained working with Marine and Aviation clients, that would be preferrable, however we are open to speaking with people with more general insurance expertise across Trade Sanctions.
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK.
