Reporting to the Director, ALM, Asia, this role will provide wide-range ALM support including ALM optimization, ALM / risk reporting and oversight of ALM practice and strategies in Asia region. As part of an integrated risk management framework, this role will provide support to Business Units (BUs) and Joint Ventures (JVs) to ensure that the ALM First Line of Defense of Market Risk function (e.g. interest rate risk, credit risk, equity risk) is carried out properly. This role would also be required to work closely with BUs and JVs for ALM related projects and initiatives.
Preferred skills
- Ability to build effective relationships and influence and drive actions among a broad group of diverse stakeholders
- Knowledge of ALM, Investments, and Financial Risk Management, IFRS 17 and 9.
- Knowledge of insurance business in Asia, preferably in a regional role for a multi-national corporation
- Strong problem solving skills, attention to details and able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong curiosity to learn about local markets and creativity to adjust practices to fit local needs
- Expertise in ALM/financial modeling and valuation systems, preferably in AXIS
- Excellent written and verbal communication
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial / Risk Management / Finance / Mathematics or related discipline.
- Good progress in pursuing fellowship of the Society of Actuaries or other recognized actuarial institution is preferred.
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience in ALM or actuarial
Responsibilities
- Support Director, ALM, Asia in coordinating various projects, including but not limited to: ALM optimization in Asia BG, merger and acquisition (M&A) project, process optimization / streamlining the existing ALM reporting in light of Agile Way of Working (AWoW), and other Ad-hoc ALM projects
- Support regular ALM Reporting in Asia BG including but not limited to: coordinate with Corporate team in generating IFRS 17 discount rates and ESGs, consolidate and review Asia’s FX / Collateral / Liquidity reporting, support Asia BUs/JVs on ALM-related Assumption Changes / Management Actions (ACMA) proposals and Strategic Plan / Business Plan projection
- Support the alignment and implementation of IFRS 17/9 implementation in BUs / JVs, including collaborating with BUs / JVs ALM team in developing TVoG calculation, Investment Drivers of Earnings (DOE), Earnings-at-Risk (EaR) reporting, other ALM reporting.
- Support Director, ALM, Asia in liaising with BUs and JVs actuaries and investment professionals, assess risk exposure and enhance value creation and financial risk management with sound ALM strategies including appropriate mitigation / hedging strategies
