Common Spec Lead Engineer

Overview

As a key member of Bruker Korea, the Common Spec Lead Engineer is responsible for ensuring full compliance with Common Specifications for semiconductor metrology equipment, including AFM, X-ray, optical metrology, and photomask repair systems. Acting as a control tower, this role drives technical and process-level execution to meet the stringent requirements of Samsung Electronics and SK hynix. The position also involves close collaboration with customer engineering teams, local Bruker teams in Korea, and global teams at headquarters across product management, hardware, software, and manufacturing design.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Common Specification Ownership

• Analyze and interpret Samsung and SK hynix Common Specification, RFQs and purchase specifications related Common Specification requirements
• Track specification changes; Engineering Change Requests, revisions, addenda
• Break down customer requirements into structured internal requirement items

Cross-Functional Technical Leadership

• Act as the technical communication hub between Korea local engineers and HQ teams; Product Managers and Engineering
• Translate customer requirements into design, development, and verification items
• Coordinate requirements related to 8C, Hardware, Software, Safety, EHS, Reliability, and X-Ray Certification

Common Specification Compliance Management

• Perform gap analysis to assess equipment compliance with Common Specification.
• Define action plans and manage schedules to close identified gaps.
• Ensure specification compliance throughout factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, and certification phases

 

Customer Technical Interface

• Lead or play a key role in Common Specification meetings with Samsung and SK hynix
• Respond to inquiries, audits, and technical reviews
• Prepare documentation and provide fact-based, logical explanations to build customer confidence

 

Documentation and Process Control

• Develop and maintain specification response matrices, compliance tables, and risk lists
• Establish and improve workflows for Common Specification response
• Accumulate and institutionalize knowledge for future projects and equipment platforms

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

• Strong ability to structure and logically analyze complex Common Specification
• Capability to align customer requirements with internal technical realities
• Balanced profile combining engineering depth and project management mindset
• Strong verbal and written English skills
• Strong documentation and reporting skills

 

Educational/ Experience Requirements:

• BS or above degree in electronic engineering, physics or any related in semiconductor
• 7+ years of relevant experience in the semiconductor industry

• Direct experience responding to Samsung Common Specifications
• Engineer Electricity certificate is highly plus
