## What you’ll do:
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Plant Manager and serving as a member of the Plant Leadership Team, the EHS&S Manager is responsible for leading environmental, health, safety and security programs at Eaton's Airdrie manufacturing facility. The role manages a small team of EHS professionals while partnering with stakeholders across the organization to deploy EHS&S strategy, sustain a zero-incident culture, maintain compliance with applicable federal, provincial and local requirements, and drive continuous improvement through Eaton's processes, ISO 14001 system requirements and site business objectives.
Essential Functions:
- Lead EHS&S programs at Eaton's Airdrie manufacturing facility.
- Develop site EHS&S targets, objectives and the annual plan; provide policy, regulatory and technical guidance to site leaders; and ensure clear ownership of key safety, environmental and security initiatives.
- Oversee hazard identification and risk-control activities, including site and workstation risk assessments, required inspections, and Management of Change reviews for new equipment, projects, process changes and chemicals.
- Deploy EHS&S through element champions, teams and improvement actions that support compliance, engagement and continuous improvement.
- Manage and develop a small team of EHS professionals, including performance management responsibilities.
- Leverage Eaton EHS&S management systems to manage incidents, corrective actions, training records, action plans, environmental/resource data, audits and required documentation.
- Coordinate required EHS&S training and ensure content is defined, delivered and tracked to completion for employees, leaders and contractors.
- Develop, maintain and test plant emergency response plans, including documented drills to verify plan effectiveness.
- Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, releases and losses, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective/preventive actions are implemented and verified.
- Administer Early and Safe Return to Work programs for occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries in partnership with Human Resources and operational leaders.
- Maintain required written EHS&S programs, procedures and operational controls, including PPE, hearing conservation, chemical management, emergency preparedness and contractor safety.
- Conduct compliance evaluations and serve as the site EHS&S management representative for internal, customer, regulatory and third-party certification or registration activities, ensuring timely follow-up to requirements, findings and commitments.
- Support environmental reporting, waste management, resource conservation and sustainability initiatives.
- Partner with site leadership to foster employee involvement, wellness, off-the-job safety and proactive hazard identification.
- Occasional travel to other Eaton facilities may be required.
Key Measures / Dimensions:
- Safety performance metrics, including TRCR, DACR, first aid cases, incident trends, injury analysis and claims costs.
Waste generation, utility consumption, environmental performance and resource conservation metrics.
- Training completion and effectiveness, EHS&S budgets, corrective action closure and capital expenditures related to EHS&S improvements.
- Inputs for business and operating reviews, including OPA, EQS, and HR operating reviews.
## Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, distribution or operations environment.
- Minimum 2 years of direct people management experience.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, environmental requirements, workers' compensation requirements, and related compliance obligations.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
- No relocation benefit is offered for this position; candidates must be able to work on-site at the Airdrie, Alberta facility.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CRSP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent certification.
- Experience implementing or maintaining ISO 14001, ISO 45001 or similar EHS management systems.
- Experience leading safety committees, emergency response planning, compliance activities and continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
