Description
You perform tasks with an exceptional purpose
Danmarks Nationalbank is the only one of its kind. We are the Danish society’s bank, the Danish state’s independent advisor and Denmark’s watchful eye on the economy. Stable prices, safe payments and financial stability do not happen by themselves, and, as an employee at Danmarks Nationalbank, you play a key role in ensuring that Denmark has a robust economy.
Take on a central role in the Nationalbank’s core tasks
In Front Office, you will work closely with some of Danmarks Nationalbank’s most important tasks. We implement the fixed exchange rate policy in practice and, on behalf of the Minister of Finance, manage central government borrowing and debt. This means that your work will have a direct impact on financial stability and the Danish economy — and that you will be in regular dialogue with the Nationalbank’s financial counterparties.
As Portfolio Manager, you will join the Monetary Policy Implementation and Government Debt section in the Banking and Markets department. You will gain insight into financial markets from a central position and build experience with a broad range of products, market operations and collaboration interfaces across the bank.
Your main tasks will be to:
- Handle the operational aspects of government debt management, including issuance and buybacks of government securities, foreign currency borrowing, securities lending, swap transactions, purchases of social housing bonds and on-lending to government-owned companies.
- Contribute to analyses and projects within the area of government debt.
- Manage the Nationalbank’s domestic securities portfolio — a portfolio of Danish mortgage bonds of approximately DKK 30 billion, including callable bonds, covered bonds and floaters.
- Maintain close dialogue with the Nationalbank’s financial counterparties on trade execution, market insight, the central government’s investor relations activities, research and ongoing market developments.
You will also be involved in the practical implementation of monetary policy through foreign exchange interventions, monetary policy market operations and investment of the foreign exchange reserve in the money market.
In addition, you will play a role in the day-to-day work with DESTR, the reference rate in Danish kroner, for which Front Office has the responsibility.
A significant part of the work also involves monitoring and analysing financial markets with the purpose to develop expertise and sharing knowledge across the bank. At the same time, you will work closely with Back Office, Middle Office and teams responsible for strategy and risk modelling within both the FX reserves and government debt management.
You have what it takes to succeed
We want you to both succeed and thrive as Portfolio Manager in Front Office. Therefore, we place emphasis on your experience from the financial sector, strong interest in financial markets and motivation to take responsibility for tasks that require high quality, sound judgement and close collaboration.
We would like you to recognise yourself in several of the following points:
- You have some years of experience from the financial sector, for example from a Treasury or Markets function.
- You have a strong interest in financial markets and are motivated by working close to market developments.
- You take responsibility, drive tasks forward and thrive on decisions and deliverables that may be time-critical and of high importance.
- You work thoroughly and analytically, have an eye for detail and are able to familiarise yourself with complex issues.
- You collaborate well with others, share knowledge naturally and communicate clearly and precisely in both Danish and English.
- You contribute positively to the team and are good at building trust-based relationships across professional areas.
- Experience with programming in, for example, Excel, R or Python is an advantage.
- You have strong writing communication skills in both English and Danish
Due to the summer holiday period, we will be unable to respond to questions regarding this position until Monday, 21 July.
