Description

COO Risk Junior Business Analyst

Full-time | COO – Financial Risk

At ING, we believe it’s your ideas, curiosity and willingness to learn that matter. As part of our team, you’ll work in a dynamic, international environment where you can develop quickly, contribute from the start and grow your expertise in financial risk, data and technology.

Your new role and work environment
A great opportunity has become available for a Junior Business Analyst to join our ALM Core team in the Financial Risk Tribe of COO Risk. COO Risk sits at the heart of the Bank’s regulatory transformation portfolio and corresponding operational activities. Our teams support key financial risk processes by translating banking exposures into insights for risk-weighted assets, NII, IRRBB and provisions, in line with changing business needs and regulatory requirements. In this role, you will learn how these processes work and contribute to improvements together with experienced colleagues across Risk, Finance, Treasury and Technology.

At the Financial Risk Tribe of COO Risk, you help build the foundation that enables ING to make sound financial risk decisions every day. We provide the platform and processes that underpin critical risk management and regulatory decision-making across areas such as market risk, liquidity risk and balance sheet management. Working at the intersection of Risk, Finance, Treasury and Technology, we drive automation, modernise risk platforms, improve data quality and strengthen the resilience of the risk landscape. By translating complex risk and regulatory requirements into scalable solutions, our teams help ING remain safe, compliant and future-ready while accelerating the Bank’s digital transformation.

The ALM Core team has been established to strengthen the delivery of strategic and/or regulatory ALM change projects and improve alignment across stakeholders. It acts as an overarching expertise team across data ingestion, QRM processing and analysis and reporting product groups. QRM has been rolled out as ING’s single global Asset and Liability Management platform, supporting both global and local requirements. As a Junior Business Analyst, you will help the team strengthen end-to-end coordination within the Financial Risk Tribe and support collaboration with Financial Risk and Group Treasury stakeholders. You will expand your understanding of ALM, QRM and regulatory change while contributing to practical delivery activities.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a new team member with strong analytical skills, curiosity about complex matters and the motivation to learn how business requirements are translated into technology solutions. Your focus area will be the end-to-end ALM chain of data ingestion, processing and reporting. You will support colleagues in understanding requirements, analysing processes, documenting changes and help the team deliver improvements related to regulatory and business priorities.

Understanding the bigger picture and collaborating across functions and business lines will be important. You have a natural interest in improving processes, solving problems and learning about financial risk. As a Junior Business Analyst, you will work closely with experienced business analysts, product owners and technology colleagues to support delivery of the team’s roadmap. Examples of potential activities:

  • You support business analysis activities;

  • You help clarify, document and structure business requirements, decisions and action points;

  • You contribute to planning and coordination by tracking progress, preparing overviews and helping identify impediments;

  • You work together with colleagues involved in data ingestion, QRM processing, modelling, reporting, Finance, Financial Risk and Data Management;

  • You learn how data flows into QRM and how it is used for risk calculations, analysis and regulatory reporting;

  • You build your stakeholder management skills by working with colleagues across Financial Risk, Group Treasury, Finance and Technology;

  • You help assess the impact of changes by collecting input, analysing information and preparing clear summaries;

  • You communicate progress, risks and open questions in a clear and structured way;

  • You contribute to strategic and regulatory topics, such as new reporting requirements or extensions of data used in the ALM chain;

  • You help create the bridge between business and IT by translating questions, findings and requirements into practical delivery input.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you stay curious, keep learning and are willing to take on responsibility step by step. In return, we will support you in developing into an even more awesome version of yourself.

You thrive in a collaborative team environment, working closely with colleagues to achieve our ambitions. We look for a new colleague with the following skills/profile:

  • A Master’s degree with a focus on Finance, Financial Risk, Engineering, Economics, Business or a related field;

  • Curiosity about Financial Risk, banking, regulation and technology; prior knowledge is a plus;

  • Foundational analytical skills and willingness to develop further in tools such as Excel, SQL and data analysis;

  • Some experience with, or strong interest in, project coordination, planning and working with different stakeholders;

  • Affinity with technology and the motivation to work closely with IT colleagues;

  • Ability to structure information, ask good questions and turn input into clear documentation or analysis;

  • A fact-based mindset and willingness to learn how to challenge constructively;

  • A practical problem-solving attitude and interest in finding simple solutions for complex topics;

  • A collaborative team player who is also able to take ownership of assigned tasks;

  • Good communication skills in oral and written English;

  • Detail-oriented, accurate and eager to learn.
