Make a Real Difference in Specialist Support

LIFE by Be Caring is recruiting compassionate, skilled and values-driven Specialist Support Workers to join our Learning Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health Needs service in Newcastle / North Tyneside. These rewarding, hands-on roles provide an opportunity to support a young person to live safely, confidently, and meaningfully within their community. You will work as part of a dedicated support team, delivering person-centred support that promotes independence, wellbeing, and quality of life.

Current Opportunity

4:1 Specialist Support Worker - Newcastle / North Tyneside

£14.00 p/hr (specialist rate) | Day Shifts available

We are recruiting Male Support Workers to join a newly established team supporting an 18-year-old young man as he transitions to his new home from North Tyneside to Newcastle. He has an infectious smile and enjoys animated films such as Ice Age and Madagascar. He loves long walks and sensory experiences, including relaxing baths in a low-stimulation environment. This is an active and engaging role where you will help create positive daily experiences, build trusting relationships, and support him to achieve the best possible outcomes.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking experienced, compassionate, and values-driven individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference in people's lives.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience supporting people with Learning Disabilities and Autism.
  • An understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
  • The physical fitness required for an active, hands-on support role.
  • Resilience, patience, and the ability to remain calm and professional in complex and demanding situations.

Why Resilience Matters

Resilience is a key part of this role. The young man you will be supporting can experience periods of distress and may communicate his needs in ways that require a consistent, patient, and supportive response. Being resilient enables you to remain focused, reflective, and compassionate, helping to create a safe and predictable environment while supporting positive outcomes.

You'll be part of a close-knit team where consistency, effective communication, and mutual support are essential. The ability to learn from experiences, maintain professional boundaries, and remain committed to delivering high-quality support is vital.

PMVA training will be provided, so previous certification is not essential.

Why Join Us?

This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your specialist skills and experience within a highly supportive environment.

You will:

  • Be part of a dedicated, values-led team.
  • Work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including our Consultant Clinical Psychologist and external partners.
  • Receive comprehensive PMVA training and ongoing professional development.
  • Develop specialist skills in supporting people with Learning Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health Needs
  • Play a key role in improving the quality of life, independence, and outcomes of the person you support.
  • Be part of a service that is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support.
