Description

At Roche you can show up as yourself, embraced for the unique qualities you bring. Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections,  where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility, and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary, life-changing innovation at speed.

At the intersection of science and innovation, pRED’s Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) organisation enables the discovery and development of safe and effective therapeutics at optimal doses in relevant populations with a vision to power translation, continuously improve the accuracy of our predictions and accelerate the development of tomorrow's medicines. By seamlessly integrating our three core pillars—Translational Safety, Translational Pharmacology, and Biomarkers—we drive end-to-end asset development across the entire value chain, from target assessment to on-market support. Our mission is to continuously improve predictive accuracy, optimise dosing strategies for the right patient populations, and accelerate the development of tomorrow's safe and effective therapeutics.

Based within the In Vivo Sciences department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, this position bridges day-to-day veterinary operations with our core mission: enabling high-quality scientific research while upholding the highest standards of animal welfare.

This role is a 2-year temporary assignment with potential opportunities for extension or conversion to a fixed-term position as our operations evolve.

The Opportunity

  • Clinical Services & Case Management: Provide general medical oversight and case management  in rodents and rabbits on site incl. associated documentation, prioritizing clinical emergencies during working hours and participating in the veterinary on-call rotation (Pikett)

  • Veterinary Excellence: Safeguard best practice in RICB Animal Care and Use Program by supporting and advising staff of the Department and other in vivo functions

  • Health Monitoring Coordination: Coordinating and conducting routine colony health monitoring in collaboration with external diagnostic labs and animal care staff; conducting action items in case of findings

  • Pharmacy & Inventory Control: Oversee the veterinary pharmacy and ensure compliant management and documentation of controlled substances and non-prescription drugs according to regulatory standards. Manage routine orders for veterinary medications, supplies, and consumables

  • Equipment & Technical Support: Act as a point of contact for the operational support, basic troubleshooting, and maintenance coordination of veterinary medical equipment

  • Administration & Quality Assurance: Handle standard administrative duties, including the generation of purchase orders, invoice verification, and the maintaining of relevant SOPs

  • Cross-Functional & Flexible Collaboration: Interaction with internal and external collaborators to support animal welfare and facility operations, such as contributing to routine safety checks, depending on project needs

Who You Are

  • Education: Successfully completed university degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM / med. vet. or equivalent)

  • Experience: Ideally 2+ years of postgraduate experience in in vivo research, laboratory animal science (e.g., doctoral thesis / Dr. med. vet., PhD, Postdoc) or relevant clinical experience

  • Skills & Core Competencies: Excellent team player with a collaborative mindset, highly organized, and capable of structuring tasks in a complex, multi-stakeholder laboratory environment

  • Languages: Fluent in professional written and spoken English. Proficient or communicative German is a distinct advantage given local supplier and laboratory coordination
