Head of Programmes (Education Sector NGO)

Location: Delhi, with oversight of multi-state programmes
Experience: ~15+ years, ideally in large-scale education / social impact programmes

We are looking for a senior programme leader to provide organisation-wide leadership across programme strategy, delivery, scale and operational effectiveness. The role will work closely with the CEO and senior leadership to translate organisational strategy into high-quality, scalable programmes across geographies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee overall programme portfolio across states, ensuring quality, scale, impact and delivery outcomes.
• Drive programme strategy, annual planning, budgets and financial performance, with ownership of large programme/operating portfolios.
• Build and strengthen systems, processes and operating models to enable efficient programme delivery at scale.
• Lead risk management, problem-solving and operational effectiveness across complex programmes.
• Manage and develop senior programme teams and build a strong performance-oriented culture.
• Work closely with government and other external stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and enable scale.
• Partner with fundraising/partnerships teams on programme design, donor engagement and resource mobilisation.
• Work with the CEO and senior leadership on organisational strategy, growth and expansion.

Ideal profile

• Senior leader with experience managing large, multi-state programmes/portfolios.
• Strong combination of programme leadership + operations/business management.
• Demonstrated financial/budget/P&L ownership.
• Experience working with senior government stakeholders, ideally in education/public systems.
• Strong people leadership and experience managing sizeable teams.
• Comfortable operating at both strategic and execution levels in a growing organisation.
