Are you ready to build a career that keeps our community running? The City of Liberty is looking for a Production Mechanic to join our Water Production team. This is an opportunity to put your mechanical skills to work in a role that directly supports the community by helping ensure our water production systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.

As a Production Mechanic, you’ll perform skilled and semi-skilled work involving the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of water production equipment and systems. You’ll work with pumps, valves, motors, PLCs, SCADA systems, laboratory equipment, power tools, welding equipment, and more.

  • 6am - 4pm
    • Schedule is subject to change and could include one weekend day

  • Operate and monitor water production equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose problems and perform corrective maintenance and repairs.
  • Read gauges and meters, operate valves, and make process control adjustments.
  • Operate PLC and SCADA systems.
  • Collect water samples and perform routine laboratory testing and analysis.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical, plumbing, and electrical equipment.
  • Operate a variety of shop machinery, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Assist with the maintenance of production facilities, buildings, and grounds.
  • Maintain accurate operational and maintenance records.
  • Purchase parts and materials and coordinate with vendors for quotes and services.
  • Make routine operating decisions independently and respond appropriately to critical equipment or process interruptions.
  • Work as part of a team dedicated to providing safe, reliable municipal services to the community.
  • Strong mechanical skills and a willingness to learn
  • Experience with mechanical, plumbing, electrical, or related work.
  • Experience operating and maintaining mechanical equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to safely use a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Good communication and recordkeeping skills.
  • The ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with additional trade or technical training preferred.
  • A Missouri D Water Operator's License must be obtained within six months of employment.
