Department: Retail Hospital Pharmacy
Employment Type: Part-Time
Shifts Available: Days
Hours: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm (Monday through Friday)
Location: St. Joseph Medical Center – Kansas City, MO
As a Certified Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care within our hospital-based retail pharmacy. Working alongside pharmacists and healthcare professionals, you will support prescription processing, medication dispensing, insurance billing, inventory management, and customer service to ensure patients receive safe, accurate, and timely medications. Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
- Process prescriptions by entering orders, preparing medications, and accurately labeling prescriptions.
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting patients and completing pharmacy-related transactions.
- Submit and resolve insurance claims, prior authorizations, and billing inquiries.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and monitoring medication and supply levels.
- Maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations, HIPAA standards, and medication safety protocols.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care and timely prescription fulfillment.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and efficient pharmacy environment while supporting daily operational needs.
Qualifications
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:
- Previous retail pharmacy technician experience preferred
- State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration required (if required by state regulations)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program preferred
Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required or obtained within six (6) months of hire
- 340B program experience preferred (if at a 340B facility)
