POSITION TITLE: Education and Outreach Presenter

PROGRAM/LOCATION: TMHA High School Program and Community Outreach/ San Luis Obispo

POSITION SUMMARY:

TMHA’s High School Program began in 2017, and has presented customized mental health curriculums to over 1,500 students each year.  The primary curriculum, Mental Health 101, provides each student with mental health awareness, self-care options, and the ability to recognize when peers are in distress. This curriculum is presented in freshman Health classes at each participating High School, and has been modified for Middle School students as well.  The curriculum is paired with engaging activities to help students understand content.  In recent years, the program has expanded to include lesson plans and on-campus peer support groups.

TMHA’s Outreach activities include participation in community health fairs, local events like Pride in the Plaza, and presentations to small groups.  TMHA also hosts community events on a regular basis, most notably Journey of Hope and the Opening Minds Art Show.

In all areas of work, each Education & Outreach Presenter will uphold the program philosophy, promoting recovery, wellness, and Trauma-Informed Care.

This is a Part-Time position, with duties dictated by community opportunities and school-based assignments throughout the year.  Each Education & Outreach Presenter will receive assignments and schedule from the Education & Outreach Coordinator and will frequently work in team settings, either co-presenting or alternating class periods.
