Your opportunity
Join our After Hours Outreach Service in Cairns and play a key role in supporting people experiencing homelessness and housing vulnerability. This program provides assertive outreach to individuals sleeping rough across the Cairns region, helping them access specialist homelessness services, crisis accommodation and pathways to stable housing.
As Team Leader, you will provide day-to-day leadership, supervision and support to the Outreach Case Workers delivering services across the Cairns region. Working closely with community organisations, housing providers, government agencies and other stakeholders, you will coordinate service delivery, strengthen partnerships across the homelessness sector, and support positive outcomes for people experiencing homelessness.
This role is suited to an experienced community services professional who enjoys team leadership, service coordination and building strong stakeholder relationships.
Your key responsibilities will be to
Lead, coach and support a team of outreach caseworkers to achieve positive outcomes for clients and the service.
Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day delivery of the After-Hours Outreach Service.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community organisations, housing providers, government agencies and local stakeholders.
Respond to referrals and work closely with stakeholders, attending sector meetings and supporting strong partnerships across the homelessness and community services sector.
Manage employee rosters, workforce planning and operational requirements to ensure effective service delivery across a seven-day program.
Support outreach activities and engage with people experiencing homelessness to strengthen service delivery and client outcomes.
Provide guidance and support to employees working with clients experiencing homelessness and complex needs.
Contribute to reporting, compliance, service improvement and program development activities.
Requirements for success
Relevant degree, diploma or equivalent experience in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services or a related field.
Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, coaching or mentoring employees within a community services environment.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build and maintain partnerships across community, government and non-government sectors.
Experience coordinating services within a complex or after-hours service environment will be highly regarded.
Understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred practice.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Knowledge of the Cairns community, homelessness sector or broader community services network
Current Driver Licence with no restrictions.
Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
