Software Engineer II, Full Stack

CMT is looking for a Software Engineer II, Full Stack to help us change the world. CMT has helped protect over 65 million drivers and prevent over 126,000 crashes worldwide. We build AI to solve some of the most difficult challenges in mobility — understanding and reducing risk, detecting crashes, and getting people life-saving help. The problems are hard. Responsibilities: 

• Use independent judgment and discretion to solve complex problems and transform them into business solutions in collaboration with team members 
• Analyze and translate business and functional specifications and change requests into technical specifications suitable for implementation 
• Able to independently transform complex technical requirements into smaller implementable pieces; able to implement performant software solutions that are maintainable, scalable, reliable and testable
• Participate in code and design reviews 
• Participate in the hiring process 
• Train and guide junior developers on proper software development procedures and methods
• Follow company defined development and operational standards and processes 
• Provide on-call support during business critical emergency scenarios. Support and troubleshoot production issues as needed. 
• Complete any additional tasks as they arise 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification in a technical field or equivalent years of experience and/or certification 
• 2+ years of relevant working experience 
• Experience developing native mobile applications and proven experience as a Full Stack developer or similar role 
• Experience designing or developing Restful APIs or web services 
• Knowledge of a backend development language like Python 
• Comfortable working with AWS services 
• EC2, S3, Lambda, SNS, SQS, RDS (Postgres), NoSQL 
• Understanding of Agile development methodologies (specifically SCRUM) 
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills 
• Customer obsessed, demonstrates initiative, has a learning mindset, takes ownership
• Proven ability to deliver results 
• An analytical mindset

Nice to Haves: 

• Experience with Python and Django (or similar backend web frameworks)
• Experience with Material-UI (MUI) v5 or similar component libraries
• Experience with SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, Amazon Redshift), including query writing and optimization
• Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, SQS, API Gateway, IAM, and CloudWatch
• Experience using Terraform to provision and manage cloud infrastructure
• Familiarity with frontend performance profiling and bundle optimization tools (Webpack, Vite, Lighthouse)
• Experience with web accessibility tooling and standards (WCAG, axe-core, ARIA)
• Experience with server-side rendering or Next.js
• Familiarity with Datadog, Docker, Linux, and troubleshooting distributed applications
• Experience with event-driven systems, scheduled jobs, idempotency, retries, and dead-letter queues
• Experience with reporting pipelines, large datasets, or notification integrations (SMS, email, push)
