Description
We are looking for experienced Project Controls Engineer – Cost & Planning professionals to support the successful delivery of our international energy projects from a cost, schedule, and overall project performance perspective.
What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to):
Cost Control & Financial Performance
- Establish and maintain the Project Control Budget, translating the approved project estimate into an effective cost control structure.
- Prepare, update, and periodically issue Cost Control Reports, providing clear visibility of budget, commitments, actual costs, accruals, forecast, and Estimate at Completion (EAC).
- Monitor outstanding commitments and identify potential future cost impacts.
- Identify deviations and trends providing timely analysis and recommendations to Project Management.
- Develop and maintain project cash flow forecasts and curves.
- Support the preparation, evaluation, and cost impact assessment of Change Orders.
- Support Purchase Order requests, commitments, and cost allocation processes in coordination with Procurement and Project Management.
- Review contractor and supplier progress certifications and invoices, ensuring alignment with contractual terms, approved progress, and project budgets.
- Perform periodic budget reconciliations between Project Controls and Finance systems.
- Coordinate with Finance on project accounting activities, including the preparation of accruals, cost reclassifications, and other required journal entries.
Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain integrated baseline project schedules in close coordination with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and Project Management teams.
- Periodically update project schedule with actual progress and revise forecast dates, remaining durations, sequencing, and logic as required.
- Monitor critical and near-critical paths, identify potential delays and schedule risks, and support the development of mitigation and recovery plans.
- Prepare project S-curves and project progress calculation (earned value).
- Review contractor and supplier schedules, assess their alignment with the overall project execution plan, and participate in regular progress and coordination meetings with contractors and suppliers.
- Develop and maintain the project operational report/dashboard, monitoring key project KPIs, progress, schedule performance, milestones, risks, and critical issues.
- Prepare and issue weekly and monthly project reports, ensuring clear and consistent communication of project status, trends, risks, and required actions.
What You Will Bring:
- Degree in Engineering, business or finance.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Project Controls, Cost Control, Planning & Scheduling, or similar roles within complex industrial or construction projects.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Strong understanding of project cost management, including budgets, commitments, actuals, forecasting, accruals, change management, and cost reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Experience with ERP and/or financial management systems.
- Experience with planning software such as Primavera or Microsoft Project.
- Analytical, detail-oriented and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and reporting skills, proactive, with the ability to work effectively across technical, commercial, financial, and project management teams.
- Willingness to travel internationally and work from project sites when required.
Bonus Points!
- Experience in energy, power generation, industrial process plants, Oil & Gas, petrochemical, renewable energy, or other capital-intensive industrial projects.
- Previous international project experience.

This role is hybrid in Madrid and necessitates being on-site at our projects internationally as required for the success of the project. This role would be eligible for Rondo’s excellent benefits listed above plus additional compensation in the form of equity.
