Essential Functions (Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities):
- Campus patrol: Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the campus environment by actively monitoring designated areas. This includes conducting regular foot and vehicle patrols, identifying and addressing potential security risks
- Incident Response: Responds to incidents, including medical emergencies and criminal disturbances, in a timely and efficient manner. This involves assessing the situation, providing immediate support, coordinating with other agencies or units if necessary, and ensuring the safety of all involved
- Report Generation: Generates detailed and accurate reports related to daily activities, incidents, and operations
- Customer Service and Public Interaction: Provides exceptional customer service and maintains positive public relations with students, staff, and visitors. The individual is responsible for addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience for all individuals interacting with the department
- Personal Accountability: Maintains issued gear including, but not limited to, uniforms, equipment and vehicles being utilized. They also maintain themselves and their schedules to be present and physically able to conduct their duties and communicate any personal issues that would inhibit their abilities to their immediate supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Preferred:
- Security Operations: Understanding of campus security protocols, emergency procedures, and safety regulations.
- Communication Systems: Familiarity with radio communication systems, phone systems, and alarm monitoring technologies.
- Record-Keeping Practices: Knowledge of proper documentation and log-keeping practices for security-related activities and incidents.
Education and Experience Required:
- High School Diploma or GED: Minimum requirement for entry into the position.
- Ability to hold and maintain an Armed Security License in the state of Tennessee.
Education and Experience Preferred:
- 1-2 years of emergency related or physical security experience.
- 1-2 years of customer service experience.
- Security technology or communications technology experience.
- 1-2 years of combined relevant experience.
- Relevant training certifications can be substituted for experience or education.
- Post-secondary education can be substituted for relevant experience.
Licensure, Certification or Registration Required:
- Valid driver’s license
Licensure, Certification or Registration Preferred:
- Tennessee State Armed Guard License
