Description

We are recruiting on behalf of a client for a Junior Development Manager to support the delivery of new developments and upgrades to existing property assets. This role is ideal for a commercially minded project professional with strong property development experience who can balance quality, cost, scope and timelines while coordinating consultants, contractors, internal teams and key external stakeholders. The successful candidate will play an important role in managing developments across the project lifecycle, with a particular focus on project delivery, financial performance, regulatory compliance and sustainable development.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor development projects across the relevant PROCSA stages, with primary responsibility for project delivery from design development through construction and close-out.
  • Take ownership of construction-stage activities through to final completion and handover to Asset Management.
  • Support senior development professionals with project feasibility assessments, development opportunities and financial modelling.
  • Manage project budgets, cash flow forecasts, expenditure and actual performance against approved budgets and programmes.
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, developers, joint venture partners and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered within agreed parameters.
  • Support the preparation and management of construction, professional services and development-related contracts, including PROCSA, JBCC and SLAs.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with approved policies and contractual requirements.
  • Assist with Investment Committee submissions, conditions precedent and project approval requirements.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with industry stakeholders, Local Authorities, consultants, tenants and development partners.
  • Identify project and business risks, ensure regulatory compliance and provide accurate project status and financial reporting to senior leadership.
  • Support business development and deal origination opportunities within the property sector.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Honours qualification in Business, Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying or another property-related field.
  • NQF Level 8 qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience within property development and/or project management, with a strong emphasis on project delivery.
  • Solid understanding of property development lifecycles, construction processes and development project management.
  • Strong financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting and commercial skills.
  • Experience working with construction and professional services contracts such as PROCSA and JBCC.
  • Strong project management, negotiation and stakeholder relationship management capabilities.
  • Sound business acumen with the ability to identify and manage project risks.
  • Strong strategic thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative, accountable and client-centric approach with the ability to operate effectively across multiple business functions.
