In close cooperation with our customers, Bruker is enabling innovation, improved productivity and customer success in life science molecular research, in applied and pharma applications, in microscopy and nanoanalysis, and in industrial applications, as well as in cell biology, preclinical imaging, clinical phenomics and proteomics research and clinical microbiology.

Today, worldwide more than 11000 employees are working on this permanent challenge at over 90 locations on all continents. Bruker continues to build upon its extensive range of products and solutions, its broad base of installed systems and a strong reputation among its customers. Being one of the world's leading analytical instrumentation companies, Bruker is strongly committed to further fully meeting its customers’ needs as well as continuing to develop state-of-the-art technologies and innovative solutions for today's analytical questions.

Bruker Spatial Biology (BSB) (a Bruker subsidiary) is seeking a Senior Scientist for a fixed-term (1-year) contract position, with opportunities for further extension, to support strategic pharma collaborations and spatial omics product development. The scientist will own the full experimental pipeline, from FFPE tissue processing through data generation, quality control, and delivery of analysis-ready datasets, working closely with internal R&D, product development, and external collaborator teams. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role suited to an experienced spatial biologist who can operate independently, apply strong scientific judgment, and deliver high-quality results against defined project timelines and development milestones.

This is a temporary position of 12 months; approximate pay between $65-68/hour, 40 hours/week. Located in Seattle, WA.

Responsibilities

• Execute spatial multi-omic assays on FFPE tissue specimens per established SOPs, adapting protocols as needed for tissue-specific challenges• Own end-to-end sample processing: tissue QC/triage, sectioning coordination, staining, probe hybridization, and instrument run setup• Perform single-cell spatial data generation and quality control across imaging cycles, flagging and troubleshooting assay or instrument performance issues in real time• Curate, QC, and package datasets for delivery to customers and internal stakeholders on agreed timelines, maintaining clear chain-of-custody and version control on all deliverables• Maintain detailed records: run logs, QC reports, protocol deviations, and troubleshooting documentation• Communicate progress, data quality issues, and results clearly and promptly to the project lead and cross-functional team (verbal updates and written reports)• Collaborate with bioinformatics/data science partners to ensure data formats and metadata meet downstream analysis requirements• Maintain and handle biological specimens (BSL-2 tissues) in compliance with institutional biosafety requirements

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, biophysics, chemical biology, cancer biology, or a related discipline with 3+ years’ post-graduate experience• Hands-on experience with spatial biology platforms (e.g. CosMx or comparable) – direct wet-bench operation, not analysis-only experience• Strong background in FFPE tissue processing, in situ hybridization, and immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence• Experience with fluorescence microscopy and multi-cycle/multiplexed imaging workflows• Demonstrated ability to independently execute, troubleshoot, and QC complex assays against a delivery timeline• Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfort presenting data to both scientific and program-management audiences• Ability to work on-site for wet-lab and instrument operation per hybrid schedule requirements

Preferred Qualifications• Familiarity with spatial single-cell data structures and QC metrics (R/Python) sufficient to evaluate data quality prior to delivery, even if not performing full downstream analysis• Experience working under sponsor/partner-driven timelines (CRO, pharma collaboration, or core facility environment)• Experience interpreting tissue biology, microenvironment, immunology, etc.
