Job Description

Purpose & Scope: 

The Senior Division Director provides broad strategic and operational leadership for a clinical service line across both the medical group and the health system. The role typically leads health system “signature service lines” represented by key specialty services that have a shared medical group and health system governance model (matrixed reporting structure to an executive leadership team), planned accelerated growth, emerging specialties and services (with a focus on the development of teams, workflows and health system integration), and a larger number of direct reports.

The Senior Director is accountable for multiple dimensions of performance – operational, patient experience, capacity, utilization and access, safety and quality, employee performance and engagement, production, and financial, etc. The Senior Director role focuses on strategic planning, and leading the execution of specialty optimization, transformation, and accelerated planned growth of established and emerging specialties.  Priority alignment, resource allocation, direct report development and accountability are required.  A Senior Director will serve as a strategic advisor to medical group executive leadership, and, when appropriate, participate in health system councils and committees, as a representative of the medical group.  A Senior Director’s Division or Service Line should meet at least three of the five defined portfolio criteria: scope of oversight, governance, strategic growth, scope of practice, and number of direct reports.

Education: 

• Bachelor's Degree Required
• Master's Degree Strongly Preferred

Experience: 

• 7+ years of progressive physician enterprise practice management experience.
• Previous director-level leadership required.
• Demonstrated success leading physician enterprise initiatives, performance, organizational transformation, strategic growth, and complex matrixed operations.

Certification/Licensure: 

• CMPE or ACHE Strongly Preferred
• Lean Six Sigma Preferred
