Position Overview

SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)

The Physical Therapist Pelvic Health is responsible for providing personalized treatment plans, educating patients, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standard of care. Conducts physical therapy examination and evaluation of the pelvis and abdomen to determine prognosis, provide intervention, and update plan of care. Emphasis is placed on improving access and enhancing the quality of pelvic health rehabilitation. Utilizes training and skills to aid patients in the goal of healing, recovering, improving pain level/tolerance, and maximizing functional independence.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:Graduation from accredited physical therapy school or education approved by NJ State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.Experience:Two years clinical experience in pelvic health therapy with Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification (PRPC) credential or exam-ready status.Other Credentials:AHA Heartsaver AED,Physical Therapist License

2 hours of Stroke related Continuing Education contact hours annually if working in acute care setting. Stroke education is only applicable to those working with patients in the stroke program.

Knowledge and Skills:Strong knowledge of pelvic floor anatomy, physiology, and related dysfunctions. Proficient in manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercises, and biofeedback. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle sensitive topics with professionalism and empathy. Strong organizational and time management skills.Special Training:Competence in managing complex pelvic floor conditions and psychosocial aspects associated with pelvic floor disorders.Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities:Usual Work Day:8 Hours

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Evaluate and treat patients with pelvic health conditions in the hospital, outpatient clinic with pelvic health and in the home under the hospital at home program.
• Conduct thorough evaluations of patients with pelvic floor dysfunctions, including but not limited to urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, prolapse, and pre/postnatal conditions.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Educate patients on the anatomy and function of the pelvic floor, self-care strategies, and the importance of adherence to treatment plans.
• Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients dealing with sensitive and often distressing conditions.
• Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, urologists, gynecologists, and obstetricians, to provide comprehensive care.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers about treatment goals, progress, and any necessary modifications to the care plan.
• Communicate professionally with other Physical Therapist staff to ensure a positive work environment.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
