Estimator - Energy Division

Description

Job Purpose:

Prepare accurate and timely estimates for Energy Division projects, products, and manufacturing solutions to support management in evaluating opportunities, responding to requests for quotation (RFQs), and determining pricing. Assess project feasibility, material availability, labor requirements, vendor or subcontractor costs, and other cost drivers while supporting the Division’s focus on practical, efficient, and financially sound energy-related solutions.

Job Summary

This position supports the Sea Box Energy Division and reports to the Chief Revenue Officer and Sr. VP of the Energy Division. The Estimator reviews customer specifications, drawings, scopes of work, and technical requirements to accurately capture material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs. The role works closely with Engineering, Sales, Operations, Quality, Purchasing, vendors, and Energy Division team members to develop clear and supportable estimates. The ideal candidate is proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, and has working knowledge of manufacturing and construction processes, with fundamental knowledge of electrical and HVAC systems. Familiarity with energy-related equipment, technologies, or infrastructure is preferred.

Duties:

•  Actively identify, correct, and/or report safety hazards to support accident prevention and a safe working environment.
•  Identify cost-reduction, efficiency, and profitability improvement opportunities while maintaining project requirements and quality standards.
•  Support the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and the Sea Box Quality Policy, including self-inspection and accuracy of work product.
•  Review RFQs, specifications, drawings, scopes of work, and related documentation for Energy Division opportunities and projects.
•  Research materials, equipment, technologies, vendors, and potential solutions to support customer and project requirements.
•  Analyze blueprints and other technical documentation to develop estimates for time, labor, materials, equipment, subcontracted services, and other direct costs.
•  Consult with customers, vendors, engineers, Quality, Operations, Sales, Purchasing, contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements, formulate estimates, and resolve estimating issues.
•  Prepare estimates and supporting documentation for use in pricing decisions and the selection of vendors or subcontractors.
•  Evaluate changes in scope, design, materials, or project requirements and update cost estimates as needed.
•  Support feasibility reviews and cost comparisons for new Energy Division concepts, technologies, partnerships, and business opportunities.
•  Maintain organized, traceable estimating documentation and communicate assumptions, exclusions, risks, and cost drivers to appropriate stakeholders.
•  Prepare estimates and related assignments as directed by the Estimating Manager and in support of Energy Division priorities.
•  Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or coursework in Business, Accounting, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of estimating or related experience in the container industry, construction trades, manufacturing, energy, or a comparable technical environment involving evaluation of work orders, project requirements, and costs.

Pay range: $67,308 - $87,500
