Monitoring and Evaluation Specialsit

A leading organisation is seeking a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist to provide strategic and technical leadership across monitoring, evaluation, research and impact measurement. The successful candidate will strengthen M&E frameworks, lead evaluations, manage complex datasets and translate quantitative and qualitative findings into actionable insights that support effective social investment decisions. This role is ideal for a highly analytical professional with strong research expertise, advanced data capabilities and a passion for using evidence to drive meaningful social impact.

Responsibilities:

• Design, refine and implement organisation-wide M&E frameworks, plans, tools and methodologies.
• Lead internal and outsourced evaluations from research design and sampling through to data collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting.
• Design, build and maintain M&E databases capable of managing large, complex and multi-client datasets.
• Apply ETL principles to consolidate, clean, structure and validate information from multiple data sources.
• Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, insights and recommendations.
• Develop interactive dashboards and data visualisations using tools such as Power BI.
• Design data collection tools, quality assurance processes and research methodologies.
• Manage M&E service providers, evaluation teams and project deliverables against agreed SLAs.
• Develop organisational and client M&E reports that clearly communicate outcomes, impact and emerging trends.
• Build M&E capability through training, mentoring, workshops and the development of practical tools and systems.
• Continuously identify innovative M&E approaches, technologies and methodologies that strengthen impact measurement.

Requirements:

• Relevant Honours degree in Statistics, Social Sciences or a related field.
• Master’s degree and/or additional M&E qualification would be advantageous.
• Minimum of 7 years' Monitoring and Evaluation experience.
• Proven experience leading and managing evaluations.
• Advanced quantitative and qualitative research skills, including sampling, data collection design, quality assurance and statistical analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Query, DAX and ETL processes.
• Demonstrated experience designing and maintaining M&E databases, with SQL or relational database experience advantageous.
• Strong ability to clean, manage and analyse large and complex datasets while maintaining data integrity.
• Experience designing interactive dashboards and data visualisations using Power BI or similar business intelligence platforms.
• Experience with analytical tools such as SPSS, STATA, R, ATLAS.ti, NVivo or similar.
• Previous M&E experience within social investment or social development environments would be advantageous.
• Strong analytical thinking, communication, stakeholder management and report-writing skills.
• Valid light motor vehicle driver's licence.
• Preference may be given to South African citizens.
