CDL-A OTR Truck Driver - No-Touch Freight

Southwest Ohio drivers: OTR with a $1,500 weekly pay floor for your first 6 months, no-touch freight and a $4,000 sign-on bonus.

You have at least 3 months behind the wheel. You want miles, a truck that is yours, and a paycheck that does not drop on a slow week. That is this seat.

The numbers

• $1,500 a week guaranteed for 6 months, or your mileage pay if it is higher
• Top 20% of drivers at this terminal average $1,700 a week
• $0.57 to $0.64 per mile by experience, paid on Rand McNally miles
• Up to $0.03 more per mile monthly for safety and productivity
• Loyalty pay: +$0.03 per mile at 1 year, up to +$0.06 at 4 years
• $4,000 sign-on bonus, paid out over your first 6 months
• About 2,500 miles a week
• Paid weekly by direct deposit

Your week

You run OTR lanes across all 48 states, with most freight east of I-35. 50 to 60% of stops are drop and hook, the rest are live unloads done by the customer. You never touch the freight. Average length of haul is about 550 miles. You are out 12 days and home 2. You are never forced into New York City.

Detention pays $12.50 an hour after 2 hours. Layovers and breakdowns pay $100 a day.

Your truck

A 2021 or newer Freightliner Cascadia or Kenworth, about 2 years old on average. Automatic, double bunk, 1,250-watt inverter. It is assigned to you, and you can take it home on your days off. Cameras face the road, not you.

Straight answers

• "Is the $1,500 real?" Yes. It is gross weekly pay for your first 6 months, paid when you are available Monday through Friday, run your 12 on and 2 off, take the loads you are given and have no preventable accidents.
• "Can I bring my dog?" Yes. One dog or cat up to 80 lbs. $500 pet fee, taken $50 a week, plus $10 a week.
• "Can someone ride with me?" Yes. One rider, age 10 or older, $27 a month for insurance.
• "What does orientation cost me?" Nothing. It is 3 days in Springfield, OH. Your bus ticket and hotel are covered, and orientation pays $100 a day.

What you need

• 21 or older with a Class A CDL issued by one state
• 3 months of tractor-trailer experience in the last 36 months (less can qualify with a road test and older experience)
• No more than 2 moving violations in 2 years and no preventable major accident in 5 years
• No DUI/DWI in 10 years if you held a CDL at the time, 5 years if before
• No more than 3 jobs in the last 12 months
• Pass a DOT physical plus a hair and urine drug test
