Lead Safe, Reliable and High-Performing Transport Operations

About the role and opportunity –

Toll's Security Sensitive Transport division is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our Gladstone operations. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, safety, compliance, customer outcomes and financial performance across a critical transport environment. You will lead a team of operational personnel, supervisors and contractors while ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of services.

You will play a pivotal role in leading daily operations, building a high-performance culture and delivering exceptional service to customers. You will be responsible for operational leadership, fleet performance, workforce management, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities, but not limited to - 

• Lead and optimise daily transport operations, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient service delivery.

• Champion a strong safety culture through visible leadership, risk management and incident prevention.

• Oversee fleet performance, maintenance programs and contractor compliance to maximise operational reliability.

• Lead recruitment, employee performance, training and workforce development initiatives.

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular engagement, SLA reviews and service excellence.

• Monitor operational reporting, revenue capture and key business performance metrics to drive commercial outcomes.

• Drive continuous improvement across safety, compliance, productivity and operational performance, including leading incident investigations, corrective actions and HSE initiatives.

What We’re Looking for to Drive Success – 

• Demonstrated leadership experience managing operational teams.

• Extensive experience in transport, logistics or industrial operations.

• Strong knowledge of transport operations, compliance and HSE requirements.

• Experience managing customer relationships and commercial outcomes.

• Excellent communication, planning and stakeholder management skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
