Bilingual (Japanese–English) Systems Engineer

BAI, a defense contractor, is seeking a Full-time bilingual (Japanese–English) engineering specialist with 10+ years of experience to provide technical liaison coordination expressing and explaining complex engineering and test specifications & processes unique to the research and development, test & evaluation projects. Salary

The typical annual salary range for this position is $150,000.00 USD to $165,000.00 USD. Salary will be based on current qualifications, directly related experience, geographic location, and possible contractual requirements which could fall outside of this range. 

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and technical liaison support translating both Japanese and English communications from engineering delegates developing architectures, system designs, software applications, laboratory tools, systems and subsystems for uncrewed surface vehicle, autonomous and remote platform and payload control programs of FCO
• Bilateral Coordination and Representation: Participate in U.S.–Japan coordination meetings, routine customer calls, courtesy visits, and planning/operational touchpoints (in-person and virtual) to convey context, confirm decisions, capture issues, and broker resolution with Government leads
• Provide direct support and translation of technical documentation for Japanese stakeholders and Foreign Military Sales (MS) representatives
• Travel may be required to CONUS/OCONUS locations in support of meetings and operational events

 

Qualifications

• 10 years’ overall experience in an Engineering field
• 5+ years engineering experience in research, development, test, and evaluation of systems
• Proven success in building rapport with Japanese defense stakeholders, communicating in both Japanese and English complex engineering technical and business information, and supporting effective U.S.-Japan program execution
• Professional proficiency in Japanese and English (speaking/reading/writing)
• Strong understanding of RF propagation, link operations, spectrum use, and advanced autonomous operations and remote instrumentation control
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Japanese and English) programs such as MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

 

Desired Experience

• Currently cleared DoW/DoD Secret
• Previous Navy systems support
• Commercial System Development experience
• Work experience with test sets and simulation/stimulation tools

EDUCATION  

Degree: BS in a relevant technical engineering field

Allowable Substitution: An additional 6 years of relevant work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree, or 4 additional years of work experience with a relevant associate degree.

CLEARANCE – To gain and hold a Secret

Condition of Employment:  Applicant must have an active DoD Secret Clearance. The applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
