Job Description Summary
About This RoleUtility companies are navigating one of the most complex digital transformation moments in the industry's history, modernizing mission-critical infrastructure while keeping the lights on. As an Enterprise Architect at GE Vernova, you'll sit at the center of that challenge, combining enterprise architecture expertise with deep data architecture knowledge to help utility customers design and execute their transformation strategies.
This is a senior individual contributor role within GE Vernova's Grid Software Business Services Architecture team. You'll lead strategic consulting engagements, shape architecture direction, and build trusted relationships that help customers make confident decisions about their digital future. A key part of the role will involve supporting GridOS Data Fabric deals, from negotiation through implementation planning, but you will also contribute broadly across enterprise architecture engagements.
Job Description
What You'll Do
- Lead strategic consulting engagements with utility customers, translating business goals into architecture direction, transition roadmaps, and actionable transformation plans.
- Facilitate workshops and advisory sessions with customer stakeholders at the executive and operational levels.
- Produce high-quality customer-facing deliverables — including strategic roadmaps, business requirements documents (BRDs), and architecture recommendations.
- Shape enterprise opportunities by connecting customer needs with feasible, value-driven solution approaches, in close collaboration with Sales, Presales, Product Management, Engineering, and Services teams.
- Contribute to Enterprise deal negotiation and implementation planning, providing data architecture expertise, scoping technical requirements, and ensuring alignment between customer expectations and platform capabilities.
- Engage subject matter experts (SMEs) across cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, data, and solution application domains to inform and strengthen recommendations.
- Build and contribute to reusable consulting methods, assets, and playbooks that raise the consistency and quality of strategic engagements across the team.
- Engage with product management teams to provide feedback based on customer engagements, acting as a technical bridge between customers and Product Management / Engineering teams.
What You'll Need
We're looking for a senior architect or consultant who combines deep knowledge of data architecture and enterprise architecture with a genuine understanding of the utility industry. You should be comfortable navigating both strategic conversations and technical depth.
Required
- 5+ years of experience in architecture, consulting, solution strategy, or digital transformation roles.
- Requirement Translation: Proven ability to document requirements in the form of Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Solution Architecture Documents (SADs) or Statements of Work (SOWs) that define clear project scopes, constraints, and non-functional requirements.
- Data Fabric & Mesh Architecture: Proven experience designing distributed data architecture that moves away from monolithic silos. Ability to define metadata, lineage, semantics, and domain federation.
- Integration Proficiency: understanding of API-first design and event-driven architectures to support grid data streaming.
- Logical Data Modeling & Domain Modeling: Ability to design data models that prioritize business usability over rigid database structure. Expertise in translating complex physical grid entities (Assets, Connectivity Nodes, Measurements) into intuitive, domain-driven data structures that are easy for business users and analytics teams to consume.
- Cloud & Deployment Architecture: Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes) sufficient to advise on solution deployment models. Our products, including GridOS Data Fabric, can be deployed in the cloud or on premises in Kubernetes clusters, so familiarity with hybrid deployment patterns and infrastructure considerations is important.
- SQL & Database Knowledge: Ability to understand and write performant SQL queries, common table expressions (CTEs), and dynamic SQL.
- Broad knowledge of enterprise architecture across Business, Data, Application, and Technology (BDAT) domains, grounded in recognized frameworks such as TOGAF or equivalent. Ability to apply EA principles to structure complex transformation programs and guide technology decisions.
- Strong familiarity with utility environments and mission-critical solutions such as Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Advanced Energy Management Systems/Energy Management Systems (AEMS/EMS), Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), or comparable platforms
- Clear, confident communication and presentation skills — with an ability to connect business outcomes to technology strategy
Preferred
- Experience supporting IT/OT (Operational Technology) integration or transformation initiatives.
- Background in strategic consulting or enterprise deal shaping.
- DataOps & Version Control Awareness: Understanding of DataOps principles, including Git-based version control for analytical code and configuration, CI/CD for data pipelines, and reproducible data workflows.
- Scripting & Automation Literacy: Familiarity with modern scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data pipeline automation, API integration, and data profiling, sufficient to evaluate technical approaches and guide implementation teams.
- Data Catalog & Governance Tooling: Experience with metadata management platforms (e.g., DataHub) and the ability to design metadata capture, classification, and governance strategies at enterprise scale.
- Data Visualization & Self-Service Enablement: Experience designing intuitive dashboards and self-service reporting environments (e.g., Apache Superset, Power BI) that transform complex grid datasets into actionable insights for business users.
- AI/Analytics Readiness: Ability to design data environments that make data "AI-ready" (curated, governed, and accessible for ML/AI use cases).
Education
A formal education and subsequent bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.
