The Pet Doctor in Lakewood is looking for a passionate animal lover to join our team as a full-time Veterinary Assistant!

For more than 50 years, we’ve cared for pets and built lasting relationships with their families in the Lakewood community. We’re a small animal practice that believes excellent veterinary care starts with a strong team, so we prioritize teamwork, personal growth, and supporting one another throughout the day.

What Our Veterinary Assistants  Do

As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll work alongside our veterinarians and veterinary technicians to provide compassionate patient care while helping keep the hospital organized and running efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians during exams, treatments, and surgical procedures
• Safely restraining animals for examinations, diagnostics, and treatments
• Preparing exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites
• Monitoring hospitalized patients
• Assisting with basic patient care
• Collecting and preparing laboratory samples as directed
• Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment notes
• Sterilizing and maintaining surgical instruments and equipment
• Communicating professionally with pet owners
• Assisting with client education
• Helping maintain a clean, organized, and efficient clinic environment
• Supporting teammates as patient-care needs change throughout the day
• Contributing to a positive and collaborative hospital environment

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant who combines a genuine love for animals with the motivation, communication skills, and organization needed to thrive in a busy veterinary practice.

Requirements for this position include:

• At least one year of Veterinary Assistant or veterinary clinic experience
• Strong communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• A team-oriented attitude
• Genuine compassion for animals
