Looking for a winter job where no two days are the same?

Gargia Lodge is an authentic Norwegian mountain lodge located approximately 30 minutes from Alta city centre. We offer accommodation, food experiences, events and outdoor activities to guests from all over the world.

Gargia is also the starting point for many of Æventyr's winter activities, meaning that throughout the day we welcome both overnight guests and guests heading out on Arctic adventures.

Working at Gargia is different from working at a traditional hotel.

We are a small team running several overlapping operations from the same location. We do not have one person for every individual task – everyone contributes where needed to make the whole operation run smoothly.

You may start your shift serving breakfast, continue with check-outs and housekeeping, welcome an activity group, help prepare food and finish the day serving dinner. The next day may look completely different.

This is an all-round position. If you are looking for a job where you only work in reception, housekeeping, kitchen or restaurant, Gargia is probably not the right workplace for you. If you enjoy variety, responsibility and practical work, you might fit in very well.

What will you do?

As part of our Lodge Service & Operations team, your tasks will include:

• Reception, check-in/check-out, bookings and guest communication
• Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner preparation 
• Waiting tables and serving food and beverages
• Housekeeping and preparing guest rooms
• Keeping common areas and facilities clean and presentable
• Welcoming and assisting Æventyr activity guests
• Working closely with our guides to ensure smooth activity departures and arrivals
• Preparing for groups, events and special dinners
• Restocking, organising and other practical lodge tasks

At Gargia, the guest experience is everyone's responsibility. We expect you to notice what needs to be done, take initiative and help your colleagues rather than waiting for every task to be assigned.

Who are we looking for?

Experience from hospitality, tourism, restaurants or similar work is an advantage, but attitude and flexibility are just as important.

You should:

• Enjoy varied working days and switching between different tasks
• Be service-minded, practical and solution-oriented
• Be comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team
• Take initiative and responsibility
• Be flexible and able to work mornings, evenings and weekends
• Speak English; a Scandinavian language is an advantage
• Be over 20 years old due to alcohol service
• Have a valid class B driving licence
• Have your own car available throughout the employment period

Your own car is a requirement

Gargia Lodge is located approximately 30 minutes outside Alta, and there is no suitable public transport for our shift schedule. You must therefore have access to your own car to work with us.

When applying, please clearly state that you have a valid driving licence and your own car available for the winter season or is willing to rent one. Applications that do not include this information may not be considered.
