POSITION SUMMARY:
Join a professional team working to locate prospective borrowers and procuring mortgage loans in accordance with credit union guidelines. The Mortgage Loan Originator responds to inquiries and conducts interviews for loan applicants, evaluating credit and providing guidance through the process. Responsible for applicable mechanical components such as ordering appraisals, scheduling closings, etc.

- Knowledge of mortgage terminology, processes and procedures, including real estate regulatory compliance.
- Professional and well-developed communication skills to work cooperatively with others.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy required. Must be self-motivated, analytical and detail oriented.
- Effectively organize and prioritize tasks, meet numerous deadlines and adaptable to workflow changes.
- Intermediate to Advanced mathematical skills.
What You Will Do
- Develop and maintain successful relationships as recurring source of referrals for mortgage lending opportunities. May visit real estate offices, make cold calls, attend industry events and build a network of professional contacts.
- Respond to mortgage inquiries generated from various sources such as web application, email, walk-in or phone call.
- Exercise cross-sell opportunities based on qualifying techniques related to financial status, credit, etc.
- Evaluate mortgage loan applications for creditworthiness, making quality decisions in timely manner.
- Submit and process applications according to accepted underwriting policies, practices, and procedures.
- Collect data to calculate payment information and prepare TRID disclosures.
- Review mortgage files for accurate completion and compliance standards; file maintenance on mortgage loans.
- Prepare, process, and organize mortgage files for submission to underwriting.
Education and Experience
- Requires registration as MLO with Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and Registry; initial registration required immediately upon hire.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in mortgage lending or related profession.
- Proven Sales success preferred.
- HS Graduate required; Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred.
