Description
SUMMARY:
This employee will work alongside the Laboratory Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory. This employee may also assume responsibility for oversight of the laboratory in absence of the Laboratory Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assuring compliance by department personnel with professional and departmental standards, policies and procedures, and requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.
· Establishing and maintaining a quality assurance program that will establish laboratory goals and ensure that these goals are met.
· Evaluates performance and recommend personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, disciplinary action.
· Performs the necessary comparative analysis of proficiency testing and resolves all proficiency testing result problems.
· Establishes service priorities, work routine and flow patterns and monitor workflow to assure prompt and efficient delivery of services.
· Creates and maintains an employee work schedule including sick calls, vacation assignments and reorganizing assignments as needed.
· Reviews and updates existing department policy and procedure manuals as needed in preparation for sign off.
· Responsible for staff review, education and sign-off of new and revised policies and procedures.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, ASCP certification, or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience and 5 years of supervisory laboratory experience preferred.
· Excellent interpersonal communications skill set necessary to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, including staff, physicians, administrators and management.
Excellent time management skill and the analytical ability to solve system related issues.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Supervises all employees within the specific laboratory cost centers.
Pay Range:
