Role Summary and Impact
At Choreograph, part of WPP Media, we’re leading the way in data-driven marketing solutions. We collaborate with the world’s most ambitious brands to solve complex challenges in media and marketing through data and technology. From econometrics and media buying algorithms to dashboards and strategic consulting, our work has an impact.
WPP Media Sweden is building a local data engineering capability to support the entire Swedish organisation. The team will create scalable data foundations for data, automation, measurement, Open Intelligence and AI, while turning Nordic and global technology investments into concrete value for the Swedish business.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will help design, build and operate cloud-based data solutions that make client data accessible to media teams, automate reporting and enable advanced analytics. You will combine hands-on engineering with close collaboration across media, business intelligence and data science, and you will help establish practical standards for how WPP Media Sweden works with data.
If you’re passionate about building reliable data products, enjoy translating business needs into scalable technical solutions and want to have a visible impact across WPP Media Sweden, this could be the perfect role for you!
What you’ll do
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our growing team in Stockholm. In this role, you will:
- Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Develop data ingestion and transformation workflows using Python, SQL and Dataform, with a focus on reliability, maintainability and reuse.
- Use Terraform and modern engineering practices to create consistent, version-controlled infrastructure and deployment workflows.
- Partner with media, business intelligence, data science and other internal teams to gather requirements and deliver data products that support reporting, measurement, analytics and AI.
- Implement monitoring, testing and data quality controls, and troubleshoot pipeline or infrastructure issues when they occur.
- Contribute to technical design decisions, documentation, coding standards and best practices for the new Swedish data engineering capability.
- Support knowledge sharing and the development of more junior colleagues, while collaborating with Nordic and global engineering teams where relevant.
Skills and Experience
We’re looking for someone with relevant experience and a proven track record of designing and building scalable data solutions.
- Practical experience building and maintaining production data pipelines and data workflows.
- Hands-on experience with a cloud platform, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and services used for data storage, processing and orchestration.
- Experience with data modelling, transformation patterns and integrating data from databases, files, APIs or other source systems.
- Experience with Git and collaborative software development practices, including code review, testing and deployment workflows.
- An understanding of infrastructure as code and modern data engineering practices. We use Terraform and Dataform.
- A structured approach to data quality, monitoring, security, documentation and operational reliability.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate business needs into clear technical solutions.
- You have a valid work permit in Sweden.
Nice to have
- Deeper hands-on experience with GCP, Terraform, Dataform, dbt or similar transformation and infrastructure tools.
- Experience with CI/CD, workflow orchestration, containerisation or automated testing for data pipelines.
- Experience supporting analytics, measurement, marketing or media use cases.
- Experience with Power BI or another business intelligence tool, and experience mentoring junior colleagues or sharing technical knowledge.
- You are fluent in both English and Swedish.
