Description
- Own the entire workflow for U.S. tax withholding on outbound vendor payments. This includes technical determinations, W-8/W-9 documentation, deposits, reconciliations, and Form 1042/1042-S reporting and filings. You will also handle IRS audit defense.
- Manage and maintain Adobe's Qualified Intermediary (QI) framework and its ongoing compliance, including leading the periodic QI assessment and validation and directing external advisors through the process.
- Manage the back-office platforms related to Adobe’s withholding tax processes and their day-to-day operations, directing operational support for the workflow.
- Lead the tax technical analysis of novel and complex payment streams (for example, AI dataset and training-related payments), engage and align external advisors on the position taken, and translate conclusions into scalable, defensible system logic.
- Serve as the subject-matter expert on withholding tax matters for Adobe throughout the business.
- Partner with IT, Procurement, Supplier Onboarding, and business optimization teams to compose, build, and maintain withholding tax and associated tax systems.
- Drive continuous process improvement and automation to scale workflows, improve accuracy, and reduce manual effort.
- Manage the U.S. headquarter services charge-out, including cost pool and markup calculations, coordination with functional controllers, and preparation of the supporting transfer pricing report and documentation as well as managing the associated SOX controls.
- Support other intercompany transfer pricing cross charges and their operational implementation.
- Manage the end-to-end Pillar Two (GloBE) compliance process using the Orbitax platform, including data collection, calculations, and required filings.
- Support the Pillar Two provision workstream, including the ASC 740 impacts of top-up tax and related disclosures, in partnership with the tax provision team.
- Serve as system and platform owner for Orbitax, including data uploads, maintenance, and keeping the tool and process current.
- Prepare calculations related to U.S. cross-border taxation, including Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, and FTC, in support of the U.S. global tax reporting and provision process.
- Assist in streamlining and automating parts of the end-to-end compliance and provision life cycle through improved data workflows and technology.
- Assist with U.S. international components of tax audits and controversy (IDR responses and analysis).
- Assist with post-acquisition tax integration, including onboarding acquired entities into withholding tax, transfer pricing, and regulatory adherence and provision processes and systems.
- Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Legal, and business teams on other strategic and cross-functional projects.
- CPA, MST, JD/LL.M. in Taxation, or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of international tax experience (Big 4 and/or large multinational)
- Working knowledge of withholding requirements under U.S. tax law for outbound payments (Chapter 3, Sections 1441 and 1442, W-8 documentation, and Form 1042/1042-S reporting), including treaty analysis
- Knowledge of key U.S. international tax regimes (GILTI, Subpart F, FDII, BEAT, FTC) and broader U.S. corporate tax principles
- Experience with, or strong ability to develop, tax technology and systems, including partnering with IT and Procurement to build and improve tax workflows and drive automation
- Familiarity with transfer pricing concepts, including intercompany services charge-outs; exposure to the Section 482 services regulations a plus
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (for example, SAP), OneSource, and/or tax compliance platforms
- Hands-on experience with Pillar Two (GloBE) compliance and/or provision, ideally using Orbitax or a comparable platform
- Hands-on experience managing a Qualified Intermediary (QI) structure, including the periodic review and certification process
- Exposure to M&A and post-acquisition integration matters
- Passion for using technology (AI, automation) to transform tax processes

Expected Pay Range:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $95,100 -- $198,800 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.In California, the pay range for this position is $137,300 - $198,800
At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
