About the Role:

Neurocrine Biosciences is seeking a Compliance Counsel to serve as a trusted advisor to assigned commercial franchise teams. You will translate complex healthcare laws, regulations, and industry standards into practical, risk-based guidance that helps teams make informed decisions, manage risk, and execute responsibly.

Working across Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Advocacy, Sales and Marketing, and other functions, you will build strong partnerships while contributing to the effectiveness of the Neurocrine Ethics and Compliance Program.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):

  • Serve as the day-to-day compliance business partner to assigned commercial franchise(s), providing practical, business-oriented guidance

  • Advise on HCP/HCO interactions, speaker programs, advisory boards, sponsorships, Sales and Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Patient Advocacy activities

  • Identify and assess legal, regulatory, and ethical risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies

  • Conduct risk-based monitoring, including field rides, speaker-program monitoring, and sponsorship reviews; provide coaching and support remediation

  • Monitor evolving healthcare laws, regulations, and enforcement expectations and translate developments into actionable business guidance

  • Support compliance policies, procedures, training, governance standards, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Build consensus across stakeholders and communicate complex compliance considerations clearly to support informed decision-making

Requirements:

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and an active license in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • Typically 6+ years of relevant legal and/or healthcare compliance experience

  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical or biotechnology compliance, including healthcare fraud and abuse laws, FDA promotional requirements, PhRMA Code principles, HCP/HCO interactions, transparency, and privacy requirements

  • Experience with corporate compliance programs, including risk assessment, monitoring and auditing, training, investigations, remediation, and corrective actions

  • Experience advising Commercial, Medical, Market Access, Patient Advocacy, Clinical, or related functions in a regulated life sciences environment

  • Strong legal analysis, business judgment, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to translate complex legal requirements into clear, practical recommendations

Preferred

  • Experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, or broader life sciences industry

  • Demonstrated learning agility, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to quickly understand business strategy, operations, and emerging risks

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $206,400.00-$282,000.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
