Everyone knows the pool is the coolest place to be in the summer. Join our Aquatics Team to make sure everyone can enjoy the pool in a safe and welcoming environment. Whether you’re a lifeguard, a swim instructor, or a little bit of both, you’re going to love working in aquatics at the Y because you’re helping swimmers feel confident and gain experience in the water. 


*Starting at $11.50 per hour 


POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Join our dedicated team at the YMCA as a Swim Instructor and help individuals of all ages develop essential swimming skills in a safe and supportive environment. We are committed to promoting water safety, confidence, and fitness through engaging and professional instruction.  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct swimming lessons for children, teens, and adults of varying skill levels
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with YMCA standards and safety protocols
  • Monitor participants’ progress and provide constructive feedback to improve their skills
  • Enforce safety rules and ensure a safe swimming environment at all times
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool area and equipment
  • Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and team members
  • Promote water safety awareness and YMCA programs to participants and their families

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid.
  • Must be 16 years of age and show technical ability in swim skill instruction.
  • Proficient and demonstration quality swimming skills and safety skills.
  • Previous experience teaching swimming or water safety preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse age groups and skill levels
  • Knowledge of water safety practices and emergency response procedures
  • Reliable, responsible, and punctual with a positive attitude
