Title: Account Clerk II
FLSA Status: Non- Exempt

Job Purpose
The purpose of this position is to perform necessary accounting activities, such as monitoring and maintaining accounts receivable payments for invoice requisition and check processing, processing clerical forms, preparing liens, setting up new accounts, making adjustments on existing accounts, processing licenses and permits, and mailing checks. The Account Clerk II is expected to be familiar with and utilize generally accepted accounting principles. Work is performed under the direction of the Director of Finance.
Essential Functions
- Works with residents on a daily basis over the phone and in person.
- Processes cash, checks, and credit card payments
- Maintains new and existing accounts
- Processes and files chapter 13 and chapter 7 forms to the bankruptcy courts
- Prepares liens and lien releases to be sent to St. Louis County Recorder of Deeds
- Sets up accounts for new businesses and liquor licenses
- Processes dog licenses and dog park tags.
- Assists with mailing accounts payable checks
- Assists with reconciliations
- Assists with greeting guests at the window, on the phone, or by email
- Serves a s aback-up for other positions in the Finance Department
- Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent certification
- Between one and three years of experience in related field required
- Basic understanding of accounting
- Experience with customer service preferred.
- Ability to multitask
- Knowledge of, and experience with, computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
