The FinOps Engineer must be able to meet the key criteria below:
Location: 100% remote. This is a United States based position, and candidates must reside in the continental United States to be eligible for employment. Must be able to travel to office headquarters located in Melbourne, FL as requested by program leadership to support program meetings and demos to leadership.
Years’ Experience: 8+ years professional experience
Education: Bachelor Degree in IT related field required
Security Clearance: IBR is a federal contractor. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance issued by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This agency handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.
NOTE: United States Citizenship is required as part of the eligibility criteria to be able to obtain this type of security clearance.

Position Overview

As a FinOps Engineer, you will bring your development engineering background to a space ground/satellite environment where you can make a broad impact to engineering projects that are critical to our customers. This position will be responsible for providing FinOps engineering support to track, analyze, and report on AWS cloud trends and spending forecasts. The candidate will require expertise in providing architectural input from a cloud cost, efficiency and operational perspective as well as be able to identify optimization opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Track, analyze, and report AWS cloud spend, usage trends, forecasts, and budget variance
- Prepare and present cost, usage, forecast, and optimization reporting to customers and management
- Develop dashboards, cost models, and recommendations to support technical and financial decisions
- Analyze Kubernetes/EKS utilization and recommend rightsizing, scaling, and optimization strategies
- Provide architectural input from a cloud cost, efficiency, reliability, and operational perspective
- Identify optimization opportunities across compute, storage, networking, logging, and managed services
- Work with development, operations, platform, and security teams to improve cost efficiency and governance
- Implement and maintain tagging standards, cost allocation methods, and budget guardrails
- Monitor and optimize use of cost tools such as Savings Plans, Reserved Instances and possible Spot and autoscaling strategies
- Maintain documentation, procedures, and standards for cloud financial operation
Qualifications
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in IT related field
- 8+ years professional experience
- Experience with AWS cost management, budgeting, forecasting, and billing analysis
- Experience supporting AWS production environments
- Experience with Kubernetes/EKS and containerized workloads
- Experience with reporting, dashboards, and cost analysis tools
- Experience working across engineering, operations, and security teams
- Familiarity with cloud governance and Infrastructure as Code practices
- Experience with AWS Cost Explorer, CUR, CID, Athena, Budgets, Trusted Advisor, Compute Optimizer, and CloudWatch
- Experience with third-party FinOps or cloud cost management platforms
- Experience optimizing EKS clusters for utilization and cost efficiency
- Knowledge of tagging strategy, chargeback/showback, and unit economics
- Experience with Python, SQL, or scripting for analysis and automation
- Familiarity with Helm, CI/CD pipelines, observability platforms, and AWS CDK
- FinOps Certified Practitioner or AWS certification preferred

Salary Range: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually.
This salary range represents the anticipated range for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, work location, internal equity, and business needs.
