Custodian (Full Time) - DSS

The Custodian performs routine unskilled and semi-skilled manual work in the custodial care of buildings.  Employees in this class perform manual labor involving a variety of buildings’ custodial and maintenance tasks.  Work involves the use of a variety of tools and light equipment.  Work includes cleaning floors, windows, bathrooms, replacing single bulbs and paper supplies, building security and routine grounds maintenance.  Work is performed under regular supervision and is evaluated through observation and is evaluated through observation and inspection to determine thoroughness in carrying out assigned duties.
Cleaning and maintaining the building 
Regular Cleaning (Bathrooms and other rooms)

Other duties as required

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

One year of experience in the performance of a variety of manual tasks. Physical strength sufficient to move relatively heavy objects, work at building maintenance tasks, and exert physical effort for a prolonged period of time.

Required Minimum Training (Must match State classification spec):

Completion of high school (or equivalent) with two (2) years of custodial/cleaning experience.

Physical Effort:  
Walking, lifting, moving items.  Bending and stooping while performing work duties.

Work Environment and Conditions:  
Most work is confined to inside the DSS Building.  Some work is required outside of the building exposing the employee to adverse weather and environmental conditions.
