Description
The Head Chef will provide oversight and management for the staff within the kitchen at the Home.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing a cost-effective budget and menus for residents which contributes to a healthy and balanced diet.
- Prepare a range of meals and snacks for residents, being aware of and be able to cater for a range of diets, including residents with specific dietary requirements.
- In conjunction with the Health Care staff, ensure that food is provided to the correct consistency for residents with swallowing difficulties, ensuring that this food is appealing for the resident.
- Ensure facilities are available and for residents to be able to access drinks and snacks in between meals.
- Oversight and management of kitchen staff to include resource management, interviewing, appraisals, and staff development.
- Stock ordering, as and when required.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, hygienic, and safe working environment at all times.
- Working with the Home Manager to identify areas for improvements in terms of culinary experience for residents.
- Maintain high standards of Infection Prevention and Control.
- Participate in audits with regulators, as requested and required.
- Any other duties commensurate to level of role, as directed by the Registered Manager and/or Directors.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- City & Guilds 7061/2, or equivalent
- Food Hygiene certificate
- 2 years+ commercial experience
- Experience of catering for the dietary needs of older people
- Knowledge of menu planning
- Working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation
- Good managerial skills, including:
