Description

The Housing Stability Program Manager cultivates investments and collaborations within the Gilbert Family Foundation that support housing stability, asset protection, and homeowner creation goals. The Program Manager supports strategy development, collaborates with internal team members and external community partners, and uses a data-driven approach to build a cohesive portfolio of grants. They are responsible for developing grant concepts in collaboration with others, executing on grant agreements, maintaining a reporting relationship with partners throughout the grant cycle, and managing internal processes to support that grant process (for example, marketing and communications, Salesforce, reviewing reports, and more).

 

About the role 

  • Identify, develop, and scale investments that support organizational goals within probate; estate planning; non-profit capacity building; and supply and acquisitions.

  • Assess and inform the homebuying experience, at a system level, to enhance the homebuyer experience and infrastructure supporting the housing ecosystem in Detroit.

  • Build and nurture strategic partnerships with diverse stakeholder groups including government agencies, community development organizations, and philanthropic organizations to advance housing supply and homeowner creation initiatives.

  • Apply a data-driven approach to cultivating investment opportunities that align with the organization's strategy, mission, and values.

  • Manage grants throughout their lifespan in Salesforce and steward the relationship with grantees.

  • Set strategic, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals and then implement a work plan to achieve them.

  • Proactively manage risks by identifying and escalating challenges. Stay solution oriented and support the team in implementing solutions.

  • Stay curious about the issue area, trends and changing landscape to best inform organizational strategy and investments.

  • Work closely with the operations team on program metrics, reporting, and infrastructure.

  • Maintain communication flow between community partners and internal teams.

  • Coordinate with internal teams such as Marketing and Communications to develop storytelling opportunities that build awareness of our programs, initiatives and impact.

  • Maintain alignment with mission and values with the ability to demonstrate that commitment in daily interactions.

 

About you 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of project management experience in philanthropic, government, or non-profit spaces.

  • Experience partnering with diverse stakeholder groups such as government, community development, and philanthropic funders.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others internally and externally.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of an organization, including executive leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and respond to partners’ needs in rapidly changing business or community environments in a way that also aligns with the organization’s goals and strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to set, meet and reflect on program goals, milestones and outcomes as well as to pivot tactics when appropriate.

  • Demonstrated ability to use data to identify opportunities that drive systemic change.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of project management experience in philanthropic, government, or non-profit spaces with experience working within the housing ecosystem of Detroit or similar communities.

  • Proficiency with key technologies including Microsoft Office Suite, Slack, Salesforce, and Workday.

  • Experience in housing, real estate development, homebuying counseling, or related investment areas.

  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively about complex problems and the courage to pursue innovative solutions.

  • Experience with systems thinking approaches to complex social and economic challenges.
