Summary
Our summer internship is for students interested in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, and/or Estimating. Interns are assigned to a project site OR our Estimating Department. Our project sites are located in Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange and Los Angeles counties. Interns will receive the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience and guidance while establishing professional contacts in the industry. The hourly rate for this position is $20-$22.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Instill Safety as a top priority.
- Manage and support a team of construction coworkers.
- Build relationships and communicate with coworkers, owners, design partners, and subcontractors.
- Review and draft technical submittals such as schedule, shop drawings, work plans, etc.
- Monitor quality control, safety and environmental programs.
- Understand and assist with project layout.
- Identify critical work items and procure long-lead items.
- Assist with contract administration, including budget and change procedures.
- Assist with material procurement, including logistics.
- Work together to resolve field problems and conflicts with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce.
- Maintaining as-built drawings & manuals.
Experience, Education & Skills
- Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD.
- Strong organizational, written, verbal and time management skills.
- Have a positive attitude and excellent self-motivational skills.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to recognize discrepancies.
Working Conditions
- Construction Site Environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Exposed to high noise levels.
- Office Environment – extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally.
